Joseph Sudlows 1860 will resides at the Hocking County Court House, Logan, OH. Joseph was apparently only strong enough to sign an X. The will was written on quality blank paper in the clear hand of Betsy A. Weed who also witnessed the will along with her husband, Eli B. Weed. Betsy and Eli are buried near Joseph and Hannah, so they were probably friends and fellow church members. Eli probably died before Joseph because Betsy alone came forward when the will was probated in 1863. Elis headstone states he died at the age of 58 ys 1 ms 16 ds but the date of death is lost. Betsys headstone states she died Nov. 15, 1872, but her age is lost. This transcription is from a photocopy of the original. Don Slivka, March 2001 |
