��������������������� "Joseph Sudlow settled on section 19 in 1817. He built a cabin where the Pleasant Point
                       Methodist Episcopal church now stands. He was born in Connecticut and married Hannah Clapp,
                       who came with her parents to this township in 1816, and was the first to teach school in
                       the township." "The first brick house in Hocking County was erected in 1825 by Joseph Sudlow on the
                       northwest quarter of section 19." -

                             from Dutchess Co, NY.� He was the third recorded settler in�Starr Twp. being preceded by the
                             O'Neills and Lees.
�����������������������Taught the 1st school in Starr Township, Hocking Co., Ohio
                             located on the O'Neill homestead, section 25.
������������������������Lived with son Jesse after the death of Joseph.
