12/8/99: Slim pickings this weekend at the movies. With Toy Story 2 trashing the competition, only a couple of films are opening. And it seems the only one to beat Tom Hanks and those frolicking toys will be Tom Hanks in a heartwarming(this word makes me queasy)prison film, The Green Mile. Check out the details in the Film section.

La vida te da sorpresas. Sorpresas te da la vida, ai dios.

(Life gives you surprises. Surprises life gives you, oh god.)

                                                               --Ruben Blades, Pedro Navaja

12/9/99: More Street Slang to amuse ourselves with. If you ever hear someone say," I feel for ya grill. I got the hookup, some bad gub`ment cheese," you'll be able to translate.

     All you'll be you're today

                                      --Chris Cornell, Sunshower

     12/15/99:

     Quote Of The Week:

"The aliens insist we only do anal sex. They feel it's the best way to reproduce on a mass scale."

--Dr. Terry Johnson, on extraterrestial mating habits, The Greatest Millenium, Comedy Central

Film: Jodi Foster falls for a disarmed Chow-Yun Fat in Anna And The King, and a little boy-mouse plays it cute for the kids in Stuart Little.

12/16/99: It's Thursday and time for some more Street Slang. Today's encoded line: "That Jiggy be jockin' my style but he ain't got the Ice and I be illin' and wearing my jimmy hat with his girl tonight."

12/20/99: Last minute news: Trent Reznor will do a live chat tommorrow at 11:30 pm eastern time at MTV.com after a live televised performance from Europe. Catch the performance on MTV at 11 pm then head out to the site for Trent's first ever live chat.

12/21/99: Just came back from the Trent Reznor live chat and I'm sorry to say I couldn't get a transcript of the event (damn web chat setup). Reznor was very passionate about his art, professed admiration for Apple Computers, Dr. Dre, David Bowie, Claude Debussy and Pink Floyd (he mentioned David Gilmore and Roger Waters by name), and gave a little insight on his creative process. Reznor was amused that his record debuted at No.1 on the Billboard charts and said he doesn't want to be a popular success story--so far he's on the right course, The Fragile sales have been dissapointing in relation to expectations.  He mentioned Marilyn Manson and said he respected their (his?)vision. On the fun side, he razed the current crop of teenieboppin' stars, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and Mandy Moore; as well as amusing comments about Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit and MTV Vjay Carson Daly. No truly tough, revealing questions were asked: His feelings on Marilyn Manson and the suspicion that "Starf*****s,Inc" was written about Manson.  Why most of his videos never make it to MTV. His bouts with depression were not mentioned. The chat was a rigidly moderated affair and most in attendance were annoyed by this--the usual internet flaming ensued amongst the chatters. Perhaps next time Reznor will realize he needs to interact with his fans instead of filling out a questionnaire. For the near future, Reznor is highly commited to bring the passion of The Fragile to his fans in an upcoming tour yet to be announced.

12/28/99: Ready or not, here comes the monster-hyped event that's supposed to shape our lives: The Millenium. I wrote a little something about it and it goes something like this: Here comes Y2K.
