You ask about the battle scenes you saw in the hallway.
"The battle was real," Alan says in a harsh voice such that you never thought could come from his mouth. "I lost too many good men in that battle to be anything but bitter about it, even though we won. The men in green you saw were followers of my former rival. He was once my best friend, but then he got ideas about taking the throne, and even started to try, and so I exiled him. He came back at the head of an army, and only my men's bravery and my magic saved us that day. At the end of the battle I beheaded him. I had no choice. Had I exiled him again, he would have come back with another army, and I would have lost more good men. And who knows, he might have won. Well,
I must retire for the evening. You are welcome to see my room before I go to bed. Otherwise you may continue to explore the caslte for as long as you wish. There are many empty rooms on the second floor, as well as the one in the tower. You are welcome to stay in the castle as long as you like."
