I am Ahmad Hafiz, 24, and now I'm still studying at Multimedia University, CyberJaya, Selangor, Malaysia in Computer Engineering. Well, I like computer since 10 and I am fanatic about it.

Well, actually there is a story about my interest in computer. In 1986. I got a computer, an old Amstrad Intel 80286 with 640k of basic RAM, a CGA monitor, a mouse and an Epson FX-80. One day I borrowed my cousin games, on a disk. After played with the games very much, then all I wanted is to copy that game into another floppy disk. ( I didn't know the copyright law during that age, 10, nobody tell me that illegal copying is forbidden). Since I didn't know how to use the computer very much then I ask my dad to copy the game for me. He kept saying that he would do it later. I wait for about one week, until the day when my cousin wants his disk back. Before I pass the disk to him I ask my dad for the last time to copy the game but he is too busy to do it. I felt so upset and I cried...

From that day, I knew that if I want to do anything with the computer, I have to do it myself. I started to learn Dos Command, of course the diskcopy command. It is very hard that day because the book I'm using is a 2-inch thick English book which English is my second language, and I have to refer to a dictionary every time I want some information from that book. I spent rest of my time in front of the computer to test each Dos Command and see what their functions are.

Later on, seeing my interest, my father bought me a programming book, "Mari Belajar Logo", books on Logo Programming. This is the first book I have on programming and still keep it. Then I move to BASIC programming, from GW-BASIC to VISUAL BASIC for Windows. For the last 3 years I have moved into C, Borland Turbo C, specifically and write my own programs which some I have included in the C library. gemilang.jpg (5436 bytes)

Now I still have my old 286XT functioning and a 486DX running with 8 meg and VGA monitor.  slow and obsolete, but enough for me to do my programming.

I tend to go for Computer Science Course, as I want to be a System Analyst, but for some reasons, I have to do Computer Engineering and I cannot switch to Computer Science. I tried very hard so that my sponsor will switch my courses to Computer Science but all the hopes are gone now, I knew that every one who is in an Engineering stream can never switch course to Art stream to matter what they do. pity me.

So that's all folks, anyway the game that I wanted much is only a stupid arcade game. Moreover, until now I 'm still glad that my father didn't copy the disk for me.

My Studies

So short, so I decided to continue this story, well now, about my studies. I start learning from Montessori Kindergarten, in Jalan Rahang, Seremban. Later on, moved to Sekolah Kebangsaan Senawang Jaya for my Standard One and Standard Two. After that, I moved to Sekolah Kebangsaan Dato Bandar Rasah to continue my Standard Three to Standard Six.

I think this school makes me what I'm today. I'm very grateful to my Standard Six class teacher, Puan Siti Zaharah, because of her, I was chosen to be in Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman (STAR), Ipoh, Perak. Well, she put me into so many school activities, quizzes (although I didn't even study for the quiz, sorry). I think my involvement in such activities that makes me to be chosen to go to Ipoh.

face3.jpg (7483 bytes)STAR. It's a good place to study. Got a new title, STARian. A new nickname, cobra, named after a super senior, having a look similar to me. New home. In STAR, I involved in lots of activities. I was the Chief Editor of the School Magazine, Perintis, beside other commitments. What I learned during that time, I practiced here in my homepage. Good design and other stuff. So many sweet memories, that I will never forget. Once a STARian, is always a STARian.

After my SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia), I moved to MSMKL (Mara Science College) now known as KYPMKL Kolej Yayasan Pelajaran Mara Kuala Lumpur, Cheras. Learning how to live in KL. Here, I met my girlfriend, Norhaizan Omar. A very nice, caring person. We are both one of the committees of the MSMKL Adventure Club. So many activities, rafting, camping makes us very close.

oldies.jpg (4953 bytes)Then to Northern Consortium of United Kingdom (NCUK), in PPP,ITM, doing my first year. Unfortunately, the JPA (my sponsor) decided not to send me to United Kingdom (because of the currency problems), but instead, they put me at Telekom University, Melaka. This place is quite comfortable. One of the reasons I like about this university is, they have a very fast computer server. Not like other universities in UK. Some of my friends told me that their university's computer is very slow. The Telekom University will move to a new place in CyberJaya, next year, 1999, with much more advanced facilities. I will complete my courses in year 2001.
