Fossa

It may seem a little bit odd to you, that along with my fascination of Lemurs, I also have a deep liking of the only mammalian (aside from man) Lemur Predator! This creature is known as the Fossa.

Early on, it was classified as a member of the Cat Family, as it does have a resemblance to a cougar, but further investigation has placed it in the family of Viverridae, along with Civets and Genets. It is a large creature, measuring well over a metre with an exceptionally long tail. This tail is used for balance, for the Fossa moves almost as nimbly through the treetops as the lemurs themselves!

Because of deforestation and the decline of its diet (ie: lemurs), the Fossa is very rare now, and thus is not nearly a threat to the existence of Lemurs as human-kind themselves.
