***OBEDIENCE*** There are already some jokes made about schnauzer obedience. But that’s not true! Yes, sometimes I can’t hear my master, but it isn’t my fault she whispers! And if I don’t obey in seconds doesn’t mean I won’t obey at all! Maybe I’m busy at the moment and can’t come or sit after the first command! So, that’s how I taught my master: *Sit ---------------------------------------------------First thing I learnt to do to earn my treat was to sit. It was a bit hard for me at the beginning, but after about 50 tries I finally understood that it’s much easier to sit and THEN get my treat than to jump on my master and try to take the food myself. *Down ---------------------------------------------------Well, I already knew how to sit, so lying down wasn’t the big trick for me. While I was sitting a piece have food appeared on the ground and I had to lay dawn to get it, because the master was holding my back and I couldn’t get up. But I NEVER EVER lay down on the snow. NEVER! *Stand ---------------------------------------------------Yeah, I understand 'stand up', but stand in one place? No! There are so many interesting things to investigate around! *Stay ---------------------------------------------------At first I succeeded only while chained up to the tree. Now I can stay in one place for hours [when sleeping :)]. *Come ---------------------------------------------------Basically I know what it means, but I have to put it in a consideration at first, because I know that if I come, she will ask me to do stupid things like sit and so on. *Shake hands ---------------------------------------------------I still prefer saying 'hello' by sniffing ones butt, but my master doesn’t. She asks me to shake hands. O.K. I can handle this, but why do they always give LEFT hand when they are supposed to give RIGHT? How rude! *Sing ---------------------------------------------------Eee...'bark' would fit better. I was very silent at the very beginning, but now, after learning 'sing', I found, that most of aims can be achieved by barking [your master wants to leave you alone? Bark! You don’t like the music? Bark! You want it just NOW? Bark, bark, BARK!] *Die ---------------------------------------------------Not really die, just to lay down on my back and show stomach. I feel a bit unsecured while 'dying', so I don’t really like this command. *Kiss ---------------------------------------------------Licking is so much fun! [And that rotten fish I found 5 minutes ago was so delicious] I am still working to teach my master to retrieve. I have a simple method: I grab something she may need in next 5 minutes [for instance, gloves if it’s cold], run 10 metres and drop them. Then she goes and picks it up. I just can’t teach her to bring that thing right to me. But I hope one day she’ll understand [I know, these humans are so dumb in compare with us, dogs, and this task can be a bit too hard for her; but I still have hope].
