
Stayz
Raukawa
is a proud Native Maori of Aotearoa - New Zealand. The founder &
Creator of the YMCA Y We Dance programme which delivers the Language
of dance to youth throughout his country. Stayz Teaches over 2000
children each year in his home town of Wanganui. Stayz teaches dance
as a vehicle of youth empowerment, confidence, teamwork and self esteem.
Stayz is also Master of ceremonies for the New Zealand Jamblaya Latin
Festival and is coach and choreographer of the New Zealand Youth Salsa
Teams. His team LIL SALSA has been invited to perform at the Latin
Corroberee, while his JAMABLAYA JUNIOR team have been invited to perfrom
at the West Coast Salsa Congress next Year in Los Angelos. Stayz adores
his salsa, and the it impacts a people, he is a true ambassador for
Salsa in New Zealand as it is his mission to promote salsa into the
lives of many.
Stayz
currently teaches classes at the Kelvin Grove Community Centre here
in Palmerston North. We are extremely fortunate in having someone
so talented and who is fast becoming a well known figure in the World
of Salsa so make the most of such an opportunity and come along to
his classes.
Pauline
Hiroti, Pauline is 15 years old as is the current JAMBALAYA
LATIN FESTIVAL amatuer Salsa Champion. Pauline is Captain and assistant
choregrapher of the Wanganui Youth Salsa Team. Pauline known as P-LO
is an amazing dancer and teacher at such a young age. She was the
first student at 12 years of age of Stayz's YMCA Y we Dance Programme
and now works as a dance teacher impacting both children & adults
with her incredible attitude towards teaching dance as a language.
Pauline is a special guest performer at many National & International
dance events. She is the current dancing partner of Stayz, and together
they have wowed audiences across the country. Pauline will also be
one of the National judges for the 1st SALSA Competition at the 2007
Masters Games.
