History

The history of how SE was formed traces back to the beginning of when Spec Ops 2 (SO2) first came out. Many clans that played on Spec Ops 1 (SO1) carried over into SO2, and some people started new clans from scratch. Of the clans that had its start on SO1 was Full Metal Jacket (FMJ). Led by Cowboy, the FMJs shifted games. In the SO2 division of FMJ GreyWolf and DevilDogg took over leadership. In time, FMJ grew to be one of the most powerful clans in SO2. FMJ is still regarded as one of the most respected clans to ever play SO2/SO1. It was in the days of FMJ when the now long term friendships had initially formed.

With some of the FMJ players finding it hard to be online as much as they used to, the remaining FMJs got discouraged and decided to branch off on their own. Many of the previous friendships held through and decided to form a new clan while others joined clans already around. The new clan was dubbed Special Operations Task Force (SOTF). SOTF included akaVetteman, Bad Karma, FireFoxx, Turbulance, and mental patient. In an effort to include ex-FMJ_GoD, SOTF was renamed to Screaming Eagles (SE). SE was now official and consisted of the "original six." Upon the creation of SE, mental patient went by Resistor, GoD went by Hawkins, and akaVetteman went by ReaPer.

The legacy had begun.

SE began to rise in power, picking up new members along the way. Those included oper8tr, Pond Pirate, Lt. Col., Falcon, DoGG (former SKA), and Suicidal.

Once SE established itself as a formidable competitor, weekly clan wars were set up between SE and LRRP. Most clan wars were scheduled at least one week in advance with a specific day, time, maps, and sides. Many clan wars went good with friendly, fair competition. Once the teams decided to start making rules for the clan wars and restricting the kind of play that teams could use, disagreements started and the clan wars were no longer friendly. Bitter feuds broke out between SE and LRRP and the meaning of clan wars changed. It was no longer about having a good time. The weekly clan wars died off shortly.

SE began recruiting more members trying to find safety in numbers. New recruits included MadGunner (former clan leader of SaF), Hammer (former SaF), Assassin (former clan leader of SKA), God-Gun (former SKA), Cowboy (former clan leader of FMJ), Efilnikufesin, and Death.

Eventually things became hostile. Members began quitting and arguements between members broke out. FireFoxx was dismissed from the clan. FireFoxx played solo for a while but later joined up with LRRP before going solo again.

SE hit a period of turmoil shortly after. A few of SEs members became upset with SE and SE broke up, though its core members stayed together. A new clan was formed by the broken off members. Shadow Company (SC) was their answer to the problem. Soon after, the SC's later rejoined and SE played as a whole again, but old memories of SC held through. A few months later, SC would surface again, but this time the break off was permanent. DoGG, Trident, and Falcon left with SC on their name to play Rogue Spear. Around this time FireFoxx, who was previously dismissed, was forgiven and allowed to return the the team.

SO2 was coming to its end as an entertaining game. Most of the clan members had the game for a long time by now, and new games were looked into. Among these games were Unreal Tournament and Soldier of Fortune. None of these games caught on with the entire clan and SE continued to play in SO2.

Finally the new game was decided on. Counter-Strike offered a face-paced alternative while still heavily relying on teamwork to accomplish the mission. In a short period of time, all SEs were loaded out with the new game and we started over from scratch. We played for a few months and are tried to make a name for ourselves. We participated in the Online Gaming League (OGL) CS 5v5 Open Ladder having clan matches about once every 1 to 2 weeks. We peaked at the 90th rung, but soon withdrew from the ladder. Several new recruits were been picked up along the way, and include QuikSilverSk8r, Darkness, Eclipse, and InstantShit. We joined another ladder at Gleagues, but we resigned from the ladder after achieving first place.

There were many attempts during this time to work on teamwork. Tactics from 5 man teams to 2 man teams were discussed and thought about, but the ideas usually fell through because they were never implemented.

After quite some time of playing CS, we heard about a new game coming out called Operation Flashpoint (OFP). OFP was a military sim much like the game we had first started on, but much better. Most SEs bought this game as soon as it came out and we played for a short while. Originally the game was very laggy so we only played it for a short while before gravitating back to CS. Later on a patch came out that was supposed to fix some of the lag issues, but we have yet to move back.

Disagreements on how the team should be run broke out between the two leaders, Resistor and ReaPer. Resistor wanted everyone to have a say in what goes on and give everyone the right to vote in important matters. ReaPer wanted absolute power. After nearly two years of SE being run with two leaders, ReaPer decided to make a new clan to be the sole leader. This new clan would carry the FMJ name, originally started by Cowboy back in the days of SO1. Most of the team would follow ReaPer, but some stayed faithful to SE. Long time friend and teammate, FireFoxx, was reinstated back in SE and MikeyTown would join. The Team now consisted of Resistor, FireFoxx, Meth, and MikeyTown.

Now is a renaissance for SE. The members we have now are true Team Players. A list of rules will be added and strictly enforced. Scheduled practices will take place. Practicing is not always playing with or against your team, but working on the fundamentals of teamwork. There is a greater depth of teamwork than merely sticking with your buddies. One should be so well trained that they can almost read the minds of their teammates. This is the degree of team play that we will achieve through practice. More to come as history unfolds...

Well, that is a very broad description of the happenings in our clan. A lot of great memories of good and bad have developed throughout this time. The good has brought us together, and the bad has made us stronger. The friendships formed in SE run deeper than online games. SE is more than a name. Thanks to all for their friendships and sacrifice. It's what makes us proud to be SE.
