Hi to all the TLC faithful! My sincere apology for not updating this page for awhile. A myriad of excuses could apply, but everyones being incredibly busy will have to suffice. I feel especially contrite because I have not acknowledged Hartts new freshman class. I have a studio of twelve this year and the new students have brought a new energy and a passel of talents to the class. Their sketches follow. I hope to be more forthcoming with new issues soon. Best to all! Stacy Blair is from Smithtown, New York. She is a double major in performance and music education and hopes to teach at the high school and perform on the side. Other than trombone, Stacy likes to read and play basketball and volleyball. From the HYDE school in New Hampshire, Erik Olsen is at Hartt studying Music Production and Technology. Erik played trombone in a punk rock band for two years, but when the band was signed by Victory Records, his parents would not allow him to sign the contract. Erik desires to be a studio engineer. Jeffrey Shaw is also a double major in performance and music education. He is from Enfield, Connecticut and hopes to play in a professional orchestra. Jeff has switched to bass trombone since arriving at Hartt, which is fine with me, since is a 2nd degree Black Belt in Karate. Another New Yorker, Kevin Virgilio, is from LaGrangeville. He is a performance major pursuing a career as an orchestral trombonist. Kevin is a runner, having been an Adidas Outdoor Track and Field finalist (4xmile, 10th place) and NYS Outdoor Track & Field Championships (4x800m relay, 4th place).
