PATRICK HARDY FLYNN |

Patrick Hardie Flinn was born in Hutto, Texas June 22, 1877. He was the fourteenth child of Dr. John Carroll Flinn and Susan Frances McGuire. He was the grandson of Isaiah Flinn and Rhoda Wood Teague. He married Clara Leta Vaughan on January 2, 1906 in Colorado City, Texas. At the time of his wedding he changed the spelling of his name to Flynn. He later changed the spelling of his middle name to Hardy. Shortly after his marriage to Clara Leta they moved to Floydada, Texas where he was a farmer and later owned a butcher shop there. All of their three children were born while they lived in Floydada. The Great Depression caused him to join the CCC program and he was foreman of a road crew in Louisiana. Toward the end of the depression he and Clara Leta moved to Amarillo, Texas where he worked as a butcher. He and Clara Leta lived in Amarillo the rest of their lives. Patrick Hardy died April 29, 1965 and is buried in Amarillo. The following is more information about his children: |
