Have you ever run into THIS?

Or THIS? What's the deal here?!

The CATV wall socket in the top picture and the two cables joined together in the lower picture were secured by SECURITY SLEEVES. If you wanted to remove this cable (to add a splitter, remove a cable filter, etc...) you would NOT be able to grab the "nut" and unscrew the cable from the wall! They are impossible to remove without the special sleeve removal tool. See below for directions of use.

----------------

First, slip the cable into the slot in the tool.

Then, push the tool down into the sleeve so that it engages the spinning "nut" on the end of the cable connector. (This is a closeup)

This is what the cable looks like inside the tool. If you were going to put the cable into a sleeve for assembly, it would look like this. If you are removing a sleeve, this is what the tool would be doing INSIDE the sleeve (you wouldn't be able to see it).

----------------

Now lets INSTALL a sleeve. It's just as easy as removing one.

First, get your sleeve and tool.

Then, put the sleeve on the end of the cable.

Insert the cable into the slot in the tool, then slip the tool down into the sleeve. Match up the center pin of the cable connector wire with the center hole of the cable jack. Then, simply turn the tool to thread the wire onto the jack.
