orbiting nonstop through the upper stratospheres of art and life.
Project Mission: Creating Community in Sustainable Ways
The M>A>R>S> Project is about using artistic and scientific processes and the tools of technology to help people find and use their own creative voices to address issues of sustainability in their community.
Many of the necessary tools towards sustainability ARE already in existence in the world. The M>A>R>S Project will help get them in peoples' hands and help them LEARN HOW TO USE THEM to build their OWN LIVES. As the M>A>R>Smobile orbits the globe, the belief that one person CAN make a positive difference in the world is promoted. This is done through the direct experience of working on specific projects that have targeted and realistic objectives. The process of project and accomplishment will empower participants to continue shaping their world once the M>A>R>Smobile has moved onward.
The M>A>R>S Project is really one of impetus toward positive action and toward maximizing the efforts of those already doing exemplary things.
M>A>R>S... is a conduit connecting people. M>A>R>S... is a conductor of energy. M>A>R>S... is a catalyst for change.
Mentoring is a large component of the M>A>R>S Project, as are volunteerism and community involvement. Mentoring is encouraged and promoted at all levels through the use of virtual (satellite uplinked or pretaped) and live guest participants. The M>A>R>S project will act as a conduit to connect people with others who can bring time and talent to any needful situation. Civic leaders, senior citizens, private business, artists, scientists, as well as students will all be invited to participate in the M>A>R>S Mission- the mission of raising awareness and getting people to take an active role in their communities.
THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY
Each M>A>R>S Project will be tailored to the needs of the neighborhood or community chosen and will have very specific goals targeted before initiating the project. Community leaders and School or Museum Administration involvement will help guide the identification of project objectives and offer additional networks of resources to guarantee the successful implementation of the project. Student input will ultimately decide which project they feel most compelled to explore and implement. The M>A>R>Smobile will generally remain for 6-10 weeks in any given area and will implement and accomplish as many projects as are feasible given the time constraints and the nature of the issues and solutions involved.

The M>A>R>S Project firmly believes one person CAN make a positive difference in the world. Through direct experience with the M>A>R>Smobile it is the hope that all will feel empowered to shape their own world more actively.
The M>A>R>S> Project will be incorporated as a non profit 501 (c)(3) and have an advisory board of worldwide leaders in business, sustainability, the arts, and sciences. The projects are primarily implemented through the use of the M>A>R>Smobile
