What is a Network?

Client Server Networks

Networks can very large, if the network is more than ten computers joined together or the network is exchanging lots of information then it is more efficient to connect the computers using a Client Server Network. All of the people or users on a client/server network store their files on a central computer. Eveyon connected to the network can access the information in the central computer. A Server is a computer in a central location where all of the files are stored. A Client is a computer that can access information stored on the computer. To access the information on the Server the user on the client must have a user name and a password. The network manager decides what files each user can access. This allows only people who are authorized to use the files on the Server.
