My opinion to this play is that it sounds to me as if the boy still has feelings for his Dad, but his Mom and Sister do not want to have anything to do with him. I do have some questions when I first read this story my questions were what had the father done to the family for the mom and sister to hate him so much. Also, why he was in and out of jail so many times. I also have a question on why does he not want to go through the town during the day. There you have my thoughts on the play are I feel that the mom and sister should of tries to talk to short papa and should of let him spend the night to rest. These are my first reactions, questions, and thoughts to the play.

2. (B) …Ma would often study me more carefully than usual as if she had decided there was something wrong somewhere, but then finally decided she didn't want to know maybe what it was….

This quote to me means that mama just does not want her son to be or end up like short papa so she keeps her eye on him more than a regular parent would. That tells me that mama does care about her son very much and that she is very worried that short papa is and would be a bad influence on Les. That is what the quote means to me.

This play in my opinion tells you that people can forgive someone but then you also have people that have too much pride in themselves to be nice to the person after or forgive that person. Some example of this happened to me with a friend of mine. First my friend was talking about me behind my back so we had words and then a couple of weeks later we were back to talking and chillen again, so like in the story, I forgave him and he forgave me like the boy did but I also was like the mom for a bit because I did not forgive him and he did not forgive me. So in this story I played both parts I played Les and also his mom.

4. How successful was the author in creating a good piece of literature? Uses examples from the story to explain your thinking.

In my opinion this is a good piece of literature, because it was an interesting book. The book to me had a good plot and was easy to follow which is good because if I cannot follow the play then I cannot understand it. Also which was good about this book is that I could relate it to my life in some way or another so played a good role because I can understand how both parties are going through like I know how it feels to be short papa and I also know how it feels like to be Les but on the same hand I know where mama and sister are coming from. The best example that I could list from the story is when big papa first stops by and Les wants him to stay the night but mama says he can eat but then he has to scram and that is a good example of like in my story earlier that how I did not forgive and neither did he until later but in this story the mom and sister just refuse to give little papa a break and that was the best example that I could use from the story.
