Electrical Fields

What are Electrical Fields?

There has long been a health concern about the effects of certain electrical equipment and power lines. These electrical and magnetic fields can be measured using electronic test equipment. It has also been found that faulty or badly installed house wiring and non earthed electrical equipment can cause electrical fields. Even without using an electrical device there may be an electrical field between the wiring and any path to earth. This is measured in volts per meter (V/m).

How does it affect me?

It is thought that these elevated fields within the home aggravate, or may even cause a number of chronic ill health problems.

Opinions vary about what is a safe level, Powerwatch UK say that below 5 V/m would be something to aim for but would look to see at least the 10 V/m exposure limit endorsed by the US. National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurement.

When we rest and sleep in order to recharge and repair our bodies these fields may reduce our natural ability to heal ourselves so it is important to make sure electrical fields are limited in bedrooms or other places that you spend time.

How can I identify a problem?

It is possible to hire test meters from Powerwatch or have a professional survey of your property.

Details of a survey that provides an approximate measurement of these fields in a building can be found on the internet at www.geocities.com/autoworker2, then look up HomeCheck.

What can I do to limit Electrical Fields?

A qualified electrician can rectify electrical faults and it is possible to use earthed screening to shield against these fields.

Other Information Sheets include; Subtle Negative Fields, Geopathic Stress and Magnetic Fields.
