1998 was the International Year of the Ocean. Living in a beach city in Southern California, the ocean has played a huge role in my life. Still, since our world is 71% covered in seas, the ocean has an impact on all our lives. Let's work to clean up and protect them. 
Looking at this adorable face, you wouldn't think anyone could hurt this creature. Well, people do hurt creatures like this every day. The sad thing is that it's not hard to get people to care about creatures that are as cute and cuddly as this baby seal, but what about all the insects and reptiles, the plants and trees, the birds and fish that are in danger? Sometimes, as humans, I think we have a bias towards mammals (though we certainly destroy and endanger enough of them). Everything in our world is a part of a greater whole. The earth is designed to work with all things in balance and in place. |
