As you can probably quess, there isn't much to do in Bolivia, N.C. at night, so we spend a lot of time looking at the night sky.

Even when there aren't any meteor showers, there are plenty of other things to see.

This image really doesn't� do the comet Hyukatake justice.� Here in Bolivia, we saw the comet's tail stretch across the night sky in April 1996.

Comet Hale- Bopp was brighter and was visible for about three months during the Spring of 1997.

One of our favorite things to do during a lunar eclipse is to go out with our telescope and look for the moons of Jupiter.� We might be able to see four moons, depending on where they happen to be located at the time.� We looked at Jupiter in July of 1994, but we couldn't see where comet Shoemaker- Levy (9) hit the surface of the planet.�

Sometimes, we can also see the rings of Saturn.� If I had a bigger telescope, we might be able to see,...
