Next time you camp at Camp Pretty Pond, be sure to use the composting bins that are conveniently located in each unit. Composting food scraps will reduce our solid waste disposal costs and it's easier than lugging the garbage up to the dumpster. The finished compost will be used to improve the soil and fertilize plants. All you have to do is remove the top of the bin, put in your food sraps, cover with leaves, grass, or soil and put the lid back in place. If all the material you add is dry, you should also add some water. List the materials you add to the bins on your check out sheet.

Theoretically, any organic material can be composted, but certain things should not be put in the bins because they attract animals or take a long time to decompose.

Add to the bins:

Fruit and vegetable scraps
