CHAMPIONS...

Of all the teams in the NHL, only 16 make the playoffs, and only 1 will win 16 games for the ultimate prize... Lord Stanley's Cup.

What is it exactly that makes this Cup so famous? Sure, it is like none other, constantly being persued and polished. Perhaps the heaviest and largest award hardware in the world. Unlike many other awards which come with a ring and a title, this comes with immortality. To have one's name engraved on the Stanley Cup lives on forever..

After winning such a prize, the persue isn't satisfied, for one would go after it year after year.

A dear friend for Christmas bought me 2 videos commemorating the championship years, and I did not have the chance to view the first year until just two days ago. During the entire video of 60 minutes, I kept on saying "I remember that!"

But the videos did more to me than just remember those days. It also brought back memories of my own personal life as a Red Wing fan living in New Jersey, which I will get onto sometime during this "unit."

Now that the NHL 1998-99 season is over, the Dallas Stars can hoist the infamous hardware over their heads and be proud. Although I don't like the Stars, they worked hard and deserved it. Not only have the earned the Stanley Cup, they also earned the President's Trophy (team with the most points in the regular season). They've earned it, and are now the Champions.
