Eligibility

  • This contest is open to any Indian student who is either livingin India or abroad.
  • Contestants must be twenty (20) years old or younger and must be full time students at an educational institution. If you are 18 years or younger, then you need your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) approval. Contestants may be asked to show proof of age and student status.
  • Contestants must be of Indian ancestry. For the purpose of this contest, this means that you, one of your parents, or one of your grandparents was born in India. Contestants may be asked to show proof of ancestry traceable to India.

Entry Submission

  • Fill out the entry form completely. Your entry form must be sent via first class or air mail and must be postmarked no later than May 15, 1999. It is available for download in pdf file format (78KB). We can also mail you an entry form if you send a self addressed stamped envelope to:

  • Using a Windows 95 or later PC, create something that shows or demonstrates something related to the theme described elsewhere. In addition, write a two or three paragraph description which clearly explains how your project works and what it means to you. All written portions of your entry must be in English.
  • You may submit your entry as a PC compatible disk(s). To be eligible for the contest, your entry must be received by 5.00 PM Indian Standard Time on May 15, 1999.
  • You may submit only one entry

To create your entry please follow these guidelines:

  • All files submitted must be in a format compatible with a Windows 95/98 or a later version.
  • Contestants should verify their entries are free of computer viruses prior to submission.
  • In your written description, list all files submitted and what is required to view the files. Judges cannot judge files that cannot be read.
  • The entry must work as you have described it in your written explanation, which must be legible. In other words, when run, the entry must display the ideas and function as you've stated in your written description.
  • Your complete entry consists of the following three parts:
    1. your completed entry form
    2. your computer entry (either submitted by floppy disk or by electronic mail)
    3. your written description. All written portions of your entry must be in English.
  • Only complete entries will be judged.

  • All federal, state, local, or other jurisdictional laws and regulations apply. Contest void wherever prohibited by law.

Additonal Rules

  1. Judges will review only one entry and written description from each contestant. Decisions of the judges are final as to all matters relating to this contest.
  2. Contest organizers, judges and affiliates do not assume responsibility for phone, technical, network, electronic, computer, hardware or software failure of any kind, misdirected, stolen, incomplete, garbled, or delayed internet/e-mail computer transmissions, or lost, late, misdirected, damaged, illegible, stolen, incomplete or misaddressed, or incorrectly transmitted entries. Entries will also be disqualified if not submitted complete with all the information requested in the entry form.
  3. We will post the Grand Prize, and Honorable Mention Winners on or about July 7, 1999 on our Website Prizes are nontransferable. There will be no substitution of prizes and no cash will be awarded in lieu of merchandise or awards. All prizes will be awarded at the final judging cermony. Contestants are responsible for transportation of prizes from the venue of the final awards presentation. All prize winners are responsible for all applicable taxes. Winners agree that the contest organizers, judges and affiliates shall have no liability in connection with acceptance or use of the prizes awarded herein. In the event of prize unavailability, the sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
  4. Each entrant warrants and represents that he/she is the author of the submitted entry; they are a resident of one of the identified eligible countries, the entry is original and owned by entrant; and the entry is free of any claims by other parties.
  5. By entering the contest, the entrants (a) agree to the official rules and the decisions of the judges which shall be final in all respect; (b) consent to the use of winners' names and likenesses and any statements, quotes, testimonials provided by the winners to reprint, display, and exhibit the entry for advertising and publicity purposes without further compensation except where prohibited by law; (c) and release the contest orgainzers and affiliates from any and all liability for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize.
  6. Upon receipt, the actual entry submitted becomes the property of the contest organizers and will not be returned. Ownership of the underlying intellectual property of the entry remains the property of the entrant subject to the contest orgainzer's rights to reprint, display, reproduce, and exhibit the entry as provided in Rule No. 6, above.
