World War II has recently ended.
The place is Vienna, a city divided into zones by four major powers. In the center, the Americans, Soviets, French and British mingle in a joint zone of occupation.
It is here, in the townhouse palace of Prince Paul Esterhazy, where you are invited to attend a soiree and exhibition chess match between a Soviet and an American Grandmaster.
But chess is not the only game being played....
