Old News
2001:
- [November 28] Released LyricViewer on the freeware page.
- [November 18] I've discovered that
Netfirms is unreliable, often refusing to upload files,
or worse, truncating uploaded files. Use the GeoCities mirror if possible.
- [November 14] My web page is finally back
on-line. I've written qFileSync 3.0 alpha; be warned that
its reliability is questionable, and the help files are
incomplete.
- [November 3] My contract at ACD Systems
expired. I need a new job.
- [September 11] Holy *#$^@%# @#!$. To my
knowledge, this is the single most horrible event to
happen in my lifetime. But then I remember that ~8,000
children die every day of starvation around the world. So
reletively speaking, maybe it's not so bad after all.
- [July 18] An important bug in qFileSync has been fixed.
- [March 18] 4Day Graphing
Calculator v1.0 released
- [March 15, 2001] I make open source. All my base are belong to you.
2000:
- [October 31] I'm going to the University
of Calgary now. It took forever to get internet access
here, and almost as long to get around to updating this
page. University bites. It's got high tuition, extremely
shoddy education, too much material shoved in too little
time, and freaky exams. Someday, I'll probably get a
degree in Computer Engineering. With university (and
Quake II) using up all my free time, I probably won't be
putting out much new software in the forseeable future.
- [August 4] Page Reorganized.
- [April 19] Minor fix made to qFileSync
(Sync All Sets should now work)
- [March 17] Finally! There's a new, major
version of FileSync available - v2.0 BETA. Go get it here.
- [March 5] I'm in Victoria and I got Shaw
@Home Cable Internet Access. I also got a nice new @home
e-mail address, but to avoid getting hordes of junk mail
in my mailbox like I get with Hotmail, I'm not publishing
my new address just yet.
- WAHOO! Hey, guess what... I got a job!
Yeah! A good one, too, at ACD
systems. They are in Victoria,
B.C.; you may have heard of or even used their ACDSee
image browsing software. I'll be moving there from
Calgary.
1999:
- [November 30] Well, I've gone and done
itI've applied for the University of Calgary, and
convinced my brother to do the same. Just in
timethe deadline is Dec. 1. We're gonna be
roommates! Oh yeah man, roommates. I may be two years
older, but I strategically repeated grade five, and took
a break after school ended. And hey, it's definitely a
long shot due to lack of community involvement, but I
even applied for an Outstanding Achivement Award. Come on
$10,000 scholarship, Davie needs new shoes. (There are 30
scholarships and 18 nearby high schools.)
- [November 13] Okay, I think I have some of
the big issues with Beta 6 fixed - it now works fine on
my desktop, though I haven't tried it on my laptop yet.
- [November 13] Two users requested extra
features in FileSync, and I get so little e-mail that I
was almost overjoyed to add the features. Then work took
away my time, life was getting me down, my hard drive
crashed, and when I got around to doing it, it was 2AM on
Friday the 13th - Okay, actually now it's Saturday, oh
well - while I was downloading the 600MB Red Hat Linux
with a 28.8 under a highly volatile connection. Uh, so
what was I saying? Oh yeah, get FileSync 1.5. And I just found out UltraPaint beta 6 is
way way buggy, crapola man. Crapola.
- [October 19] Small update to FileSync
added.
- [September 20] UltraPaint beta 6 is
available.
- [September 4] While I still haven't found
a new employer, I have updated FileSync to version
1.4. It's sweet, go get it.
- [August 20] Made a new logo with Instant
3D, a crappy program. It can only have ONE object
xor one piece of text at a time, plus it's not very user
friendly. I had to compose the final scene with
UltraPaint. The large, high-quality JPEG version was
>500KB, so I couldn't very well use it on my web page.
- [August 1] I finally got to try out Seiken
Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2), the game Square didn't
translate to English, the game I've been waiting years to
play... without even realizing it. Will it run on my
emulator? Well, it won't go past the title page. Use zSNES. Thanks to an unnamed
group for the complete freeware
translation! I can't
tell you where to get a ROM though.
- [July 29] It's my birthday!...yesterday.
But yesterday I had to work. So I'm telling you now. I
can't believe I'm 19 entire years
of age... before you know it I'll be 40! ...and still looking for a real
job!...By the way: even if you can't
hire me outright, contact me if you can help publish
my software. I have a few new programs in the
works.
- [July 25] Incremental release of FileSync
available; fixed a bug, improved user interface. I'm
calling it version 1.3.
- [July 23] Hawaiian Employers are too late
to grab me; I've come back to Calgary. I left at 8:50PM
and arrived at 10:30AM. Then I took a little nap.
- [July 18] Added two new sections: personal and MMH. But Geocities is making it very hard to update
my site; go to the XOOM
mirror instead.
- [July 7 (8 on mainland North America)] At
long last... a free new version of
UltraPaint is available! And, finally, Geocities is
allowing me to update my site.
- [July 2] Tomorrow at 5AM I'll be leaving
from Calgary for Honolulu to visit my parents. I will be
gone for two weeks but will still be able to update my
web site.
- [July 2] Are you a developer near Alberta,
B.C. or Hawaii looking for an enthusiastic genius
programmer? Look no further. I am freshly out of
high school and in need of a job.
Check out my gorgeous resume.
- [June 25] I've added a new version of
FileSync (1.2) to my Freeware page. New
features include backup ability, unlimited sync-sets, and
a command-line interface.
- [April 15] Updated FileSync to v1.1.
- [April 15] UltraPaint Beta 4 released.
Many bug fixes; a couple of new features were added.
- [March 23] UltraPaint Beta 3 released. Bug
fixed that was causing a crash under certain conditions
while closing a file. Also released a version with an
install program.
- [March 22] Added FileSync to the freeware page.
- [March 21] Minor update to UltraPaint, which fixes the bug where the program won't
start without a C:\Temp directory.
- [March 20] I've been working a lot on it
and now there's another public beta of UltraPaint
released. This one is much better! Get it
NOW!
- [March 17] Preliminary Beta Version of
UltraPaint released
- Web Site Revamped
1998:
- [September 9] Released source code for
SNEqr 0.340.
- [September 9] Moved back to Geocities.
- [Aug 27] Long day coming back to Calgary
from Honolulu! I had to stay awake for 27 hours: 9
hours flying, and 10 hours waiting at airports.
- [August 10] Well, apparently somebody on
sixtyfour.com was using too much bandwidth, so the
network closed all the sites down. Now what am I
going to do? I hope I'm not forced back to
Geocities...
- [July 1] Canada day. Also, tomorrow
morning I'm leaving on a plane to Seattle, and then I'll
go to Los Angeles and then Hawaii. This basically
means I have a greater chance of being in a plane crash
than the Average Joe, so if the page never ever gets
updated again, you know what hapenned.
- [June 23] Final exams are over, woo!
Also, SNEqr v0.340 has been released!
- [June 21] New version of SNES knowledge
base: v1.50. Slight revision to MMIO doc: v2.1 out
- Get a load of this: the author of Project
Unreality gets hired by a N64 game company, and will now
have access to all the technical info about the N64 - but
must not continue writing the N64 emu or give any tech
info to anyone! I wish Nintendo would do that to
me.
- [June 12] Major update made to SNES MMIO
document; see the SNES knowledge base page.
- [June 9] SNEqr v0.315 released; Windowing,
Mode 7 and Indirect HDMA working now.
- [June 2] Major emulator release!
v0.302 is now up for grabs, and features a CPU
emulation core rewritten completely in assembly
language. Please click on the big link on the left.
Oh never mind. Because this is old news, there
is no big link on the left to click. Oh well.
- [June 2] Name change! They finally
changed my directory name to /qwertie
- [May 20] Around this date, sixtyfour.com
flubbed up and blocked access to my web page. So
there weren't any updates, although I didn't have much to
update anyway, except the new version of my emulator.
- [May 10] Fourth revision of the SNES
MMIO/PPU documentation up!
- [May 9] SNEqr v0.260 now done!
Several bug fixes, so more games work.
- [May 7] SNEqr v0.250 is done! Finally, I
fixed The Mario Bug. Now Mario is somewhat
playable, and, whoopdydoo, so is Zelda!
- [April 28] I reformatted my hard drive...
and also got a whole new drive! Check out this
baby: a Quantam Fireball 6.45 GB drive, and it's already
10% full! Woo, woo! P.S. I posted SNEqr v2.10
recently. It runs MARIO WORLD! Yahoo!!!!! Except that you fall through the
ground and land in the sky and the enemies keep
disappearing.
- [March 31] I posted a new free program, NT
Message Sender, to my software page.
- [March 20] I have posted my new SNES tile
editor today.
