Pond West Of Lodgepole Lake

Friday July 20'th, 2001

On the north side of the pond, where a small stream enters it, there are mudflats exposed when the water levels drop. This black mud is of a fine consistency, and is also stickier than most of the other bogs I frequent. I hadn't been here since 1988, and back then, there were only a few tiny patches of mud exposed, and I wasn't certain about the risk of being seen at that time. So, this is the first time I actually did any sinking at this spot, and can't wait to return again when the weather is warmer!
