Trails in NH
1)Gunstock Ski area, Gilford.
Directions: From I-93
take exit 20 and go north on rt.
3-11 for 9.5 miles. Turn right
onto rt. 11A and go for 5.5 miles
where you will see the entrance to the main parking area
on the right which is labeled by a fairly large sign. I
usually go part way down the road and park next to the campground
office but you can continue in to the main lodge and park in the
very large parking lot.
Description: If you have the strength it is worth going to the
top of the ski mountain under the triple chairlift, then go on
the ridge trail over to the other peak with the tower on it. From
here you can fly down to the parking lot. Views are great and its
1300 feet in just 1.7 miles. Good riding for beginners because
almost everything is marked.

2)Waterville Ski area, Waterville
Directions:
From I-93
take exit 28 and go east on rt. 49 for around 10 miles where you
will enter the village. From there just follow the signs or drive
around until you find snows mtn.
Description: Good downhill riding @ snows mtn and lots of secret
trails around the ski area. Its a lot of fun to explore. I dont
think the lift is that useful, its not that hard to climb to the
top. Ask about the xc ski trails.

3)Loon Mtn Ski area, Lincoln
Directions:
Take exit 32 off of I-93
and follow the signs through Lincoln, Easy to find.
Description: If your looking for serious downhill then ride the
sky ship to the top for a small fee of course. The xc trails are
also fun to ride. Loon mtn also host a mountain bike race each
year, "Snickers Fat tire Classic".

4)Cranmore Ski area, North Conway
Directions:
Manchester, NH - Rt. 93N to exit 23, then
Route 104 to Route 25E to Route 16N. 90 miles, 2 hours.
Boston, MA - I-95 N to Spaulding Turnpike (Route 16). 125
miles, 2.5 hours.
Description: "Cranmore is a mecca
for mountain bike
enthusiasts - and
it's no wonder!" This is what there web site says so it must
be good riding. I have never biked cranmore. no lifts or rentals.

6)Pisgah State Park, Winchester
Directions:
Take nh 9 then turn south
onto rt. 63. Your next turn will be onto old chesterfield rd
which is located between the school and town hall in
Chesterfield. There are quite a few signs marking the way to the
park. Go two miles and then turn onto horseshow rd. Go for
another 1.6 miles and you should reach one of the four parking
lots.
Description: This is a
nice area to ride in because it is undeveloped and there are
quite a few swimming areas. But beware because some of the trails
are off limits to bicyclist including the trails that go up the
1300 foot Mount pisgah. CAUTION: This is not a safe area during
hunting season.

7)Massabesic Lake/Tower Hill Pond,
Manchester
Directions: From I-93
take exit 7 onto rt. 101 east. Next take exit 1 onto rt 28 south.
Parking is available by canadia road traffic circle next to the
playing field.
Description:
Always a popular riding
spot because it is so close to Manchester.Not too many steep
hills or serious terrain. If you are spending the day be sure to
travel over to nearby Tower Hill or even bear Brook State Park.
This is the location of the annual "Watershed Wahoo"
MTb race.

8)Bear Brook State Park, Allenstown
Directions: From the south take I-93
to exit 9n and go for 11 miles on rt. 28 north where you will see
the entrance to deerfield road and a large sign fo the park.
There is a toll booth 1 mile ahead where you can park sometimes
otherwise you must continue for two miles and find the main
parking area.
From the North take I-93 to exit 13. Go south on rt 3 for 6.5
miles, then turn left onto rt 28 and go three miles where you wil
find deerfield road and the big sign for the park.
Description: This is one of my favorite places to ride
in southern nh. A whole lot of riding, 40+ miles of marked
trails. This ride can be connected with lake massabesic. For the
advanced rider there is a sweet trail by the toll booth called
the catamount trail. This is the location of the annual
"Bear Brook" mtb race.

9)Fox State Forest, Hillsborough
Directions: Take I-89 to exit 5 and go west on rts. 9
& 202, Go to the traffic signal in hillsborough at the
intersection with rt.149. Turn right onto school st. and follow
the signs to hillsborough center. Around three miles later you
will come to the fox state forest parking lot.
Description: The views are great and the riding can be
very technical. around 25+ miles of trails. If you want the
latest scoop on the trails stop by the ped'ling fool bike shop.

10)Clough State Park, Weare/Dunbarton
Directions: From I-89 take exit 2and go south on rt.
13 for 5 miles. turn right onto Winslo rd. and go for .7 miles
where you will see a sign marking "OHRV Parking". Park
here or contine further on to mansion rd and the official clough
state park parking lot, a fee is charged in summer.
Description: Location for the annual "second start
enduro", Lots and lots of trails to explore. Keep your eyes
open for motorized vehicles flying around the trails.

11)Franklin Falls Resevior Dam/Heritage
trail, Franklin
Directions: Take exit 22 off of I-93 and go south on
127. Drive until you see the sign and parking lot on the right
side of the rd. Cant miss it.
Description: Some say this area is flat but it has some
good trails to explore, Some nice singletrack and amazing views.
I love to do this ride because of profile falls, a very nice
swimming spot. Good For beginners looking to test their endurance
on the 14 mile loop.

12)Pawtuckaway State Park, Nottingham
Directions: Take rt 101 to exit 5. Then follow rt 156
north following the brown park signs. You should turn onto
mountain rd and come to the main entrance a within a mile.
Description: Something like 15 miles of trails. You
must travel to the top of south mountain because on very clear
days you can see the atlantic ocean. Another plus is cooling off
at the local beach.

13)Pillsbury State Park, Washington
Directions: Take exit 5 off of I-89 and go west on rt
9 through hillsborough until you reach rt 31 where you will turn
right and head north. Go 4 miles and you should see the entrance.
Parking should be available by the visitors center.
Description: Not a trail for the weak legged. Bumps,
stumps, and jumps. Some nice out and back loops to play on. Some
spots require carying the bike.

14)Gile State Forest, Springfield
Directions: Take I-89 to exit 11 and go east on rt 11
for 7 miles to rt 4a which is before a gas station. Turn left
onto rt. 4a heading north for 7 miles to the memorial park
located on the right.
Description: A good variation of trails, some short 3
mile loops or you can do up to 40 miles . Be sure to watch out
for those damn hunters in the fall!

15)Wade State Forest, Hill
Directions: Take I-93 to exit 20, then go on route 11
to rt 3a. Take 3a north though franklin to hill. Look for Murray
Hill Road on the left. continue for another half mile where you
will reach "the dump". There is an unmarked road after
it which you will take till you reach cider brown rd. Park at
your own risk.
Description: BE ADVISED--- This is a really sweet place
to ride but there are no "safe" places to park your
car. Sometimes i just park at a nearby general store. If you are
lucky you may encounter a horse, other than that there isnt much
civilization.

16)Annett State Forest, Rindge
Directions: From Jaffrey go east on rt 124 for 2.2
miles and then go right onto prescott rd where you will see a
sign for the annett "picninc area". Continue on for
less than a mile and you will merge with squantum rd and be on
cathedral rd. The parking area is a .4 mile ahead on the left.
Sometime the gate is locked so just park on the road.
Description: Known as the "picnic area" to
some, but it is much more. There are around 20 + miles of trails
for all levels. There may be a fee on the weekends.

17)Cherry Mtn/Jefferson Notch
Directions: Go north west from crawford notch on rt
302. Once you pass the fabyan store, which will be on your right,
go for another mile to cherry mtn road and on the left there
should be the parking area for lower ammonoosuc falls.
Description: Great views of the presidentials. Lots of
hard climbs and just as many long descents.

18)Stinson Lake, White mtn national forest
Directions: Take I-93 to exit 26 onto rt 3a south and
25 west. Go four miles to a rotary and continue on rt 25 west for
3.5 miles where you will see the sign for stinson lake &
rumney village. Turn right and go for around 7 miles and you will
reach the trailhead.
Description: Lots of old roads and hiking trails. If
you think you have the skills try climbing up 2890 foot stinson
mtn.
