Raising the panels Adjust the height of the spindle so that the finished panels will have the same amount of stock removed from each side, with a tenon that fits the grove made by the stick cutter. You can use the grove produced by the stick cutters as a gage when sizing the tenon on the panels.

Dialing the height After a test piece has been run through the panel raising cutter, you can use a dial indicator to make the final height adjustment. The tenon needs to be sized to the same size as the grove, too thin and the panels will rattle, to thick and you run the risk of splitting the profile on the styles. One or two adjustments usually give a perfect fit.

Mount the Hold Down Prior to raising the panels, mount a hold down to keep the stock against the machine surface, and help keep your fingers away from that spinning cutter.
