This
is Sable, our American Pit Bull terrier. She came into our lives in Feb
of 1999. She is a rescue, that was used for dog fighting. She was only
six months old at the time I brought her home, and was going to be used
in the Dogman's breeding program her very first heat. We had her spayed
after we brought her home.
She has quite an impressive pedigree, and I have no idea of how this man got her. The breeder of her grandmother and grandfather, is Amberlite/Columbia River kennels. I believe a woman from Alberta bought her grandmother, that had been bred to a dog named Bogan.
This
woman allowed a male and female pup from this litter to breed, and one
of the puppies ended up being Sable. Her parents were not even a year old,
when she bred them.

This kennel breeds Pit Bulls for temperament and conformation. Sable is from a long line of champion show dogs. Her and her siblings situation only prove that even the most well intentioned breeder, can sell a dog to the wrong person.

This is one Pit Bull that will never be in a shelter, chained to a tree, or ever see another fight. She is very sweet, and so eager to please. She still shows outward signs of abuse, but we are working them.
She had never been indoors, in a car, or had toys to plat with. She was terrified of the telephone, stereo and television. It was sad to see, since it never would have crossed my mind that a dog would be afraid of these things.
She has come a long way since then.
