Prince Redford
"Red"

This ferret named himself.  With a fluffy red coat, like none I've ever seen before, and his ability to sleep on a pillow like a Prince on the floor of the car, he is truly an amazing ferret.  He has all of the charactistics of a trained dog, except for one thing...the litter box (we're working on that).  He walks along-side at your pace on a leash, he's a major lap ferret, and he follows me around everywhere.  Knowing all this, we would have paid any price to bring him home, but suprisingly someone threw him away!  He was left at the front door of a local pet store with another male ferret (who was strangely unneutered) and would have been sent to the Humane Society.  His coat was clean and soft, but his ears were full of black earwax, one of his front teeth was partially broken and dead, and one of his toenails was ingrown.  He had obviously been through a lot, with an owner that knew nothing about ferrets.  Even having been neglected to such a degree, he is by far the sweetest of my ferrets.  He was so thin (as you can see in the above picture of him getting a bath), at first we thought he was an adult female !!!  He weighs less than Precious, our 8 month old female.  Hopefully in a few months he'll be bigger than Fatso, if that's possible.

Unfortunately, since the last paragraph was written, Red has passed away.  He was only with us 3 weeks but he will be in our memory forever.  In just a few short weeks, he captured our hearts.  Hopefully his last weeks that were spent with us were happy ones.  He is greatly missed.
