Remember Buddy, the Beagle-Basenji. I think of him as my Legal Beagle-Basenji because he was such a legal hassel to me. After expensive heartworm treatment, I took him to a person who presented herself as a caring person who wanted Buddy. Well, she never signed the BRAT contract and did not provide Buddy with heartworm preventive. I took her to Small Claims Court to try to recover Buddy and enforce our contract for responsible care.
She cried and told the judge she took excellent care of Buddy, so I lost because the judge said I was not financially injured--someone else (a financial angel) provided the monies for the heartworm treatment. The judge said he would hear the case again if Buddy's financial angel would come to Small Claims Court.
Well, six weeks later, she turned Buddy in to the Humane Society and I was called because Buddy had a micro chip with our info. I arranged to pick Buddy up after the weekend. Now here's the good news. When I arrived, the Receptionist told me that Buddy had been adopted that morning by a very nice family. Hurrah, for Buddy, the Legal Beagle-Basenji.

Roxie was a cute little 18 pounds of pure Basenji approximately 2 years of age. She was opinionated and needed lots of love and understanding. Gail and Duke adopted her with the understanding that she was a frightened nipper. Today Roxie is a well-rounded (now 22 pounds) happy princess. She's found the love and understanding she needed. She doesn't even need to bite to prove a point.
Our heartiest congratulations to Princess Roxanne, Gail and Duke.

Announcement - We've had to temporarily suspend our meetings as I've been unable to devote the time required to prepare our newsletter and organize a meeting. I've got to take care of my 84 year old aunty and get her situated in an assisted-care home before I can get on with my hobbies, but if you have any questions, suggestions, etc., please don't hesitate to call me. I find I still have time to rescue a dog or lend an ear.
Thanks,
