The Mottled Marvel competed in agility and obedience events during her two week long, 4000 mile tour of the west!
Here are the results: first up was the PPOC agility trial in Colorado Springs last weekend. Would the change in altitude effect the Dotted Delight's cranial air pressure?? If it did, it was for the better! The Black & White Blur took to the course on the first day and managed a double qualifier with a FIRST PLACE in Excellent A Standard (NEW TITLE!!!) and Excellent B JWW (MXJ leg!) Two beautiful blue ribbons to leave the western competitors gaping at the 'lil ole eastern girl!
The next day a wrong course and a popped weave pole resulted in a double NQ!
On Monday it was on to Denver and competition at the DCA National Specialty in Agility. The Devilish Dalmatian was one of only two dogs competing in Excellent B Standard & JWW - the other Dal being an MX & MXJ dog. The Spotted Sensation ran a beautiful standard course before falling for a trap with two jumps left and getting NQed, in JWW, she managed to pop out of the weaves for another NQ!
On Tuesday the Dynamite Dalmatian was in the obedience ring working on her CDX title (Open A). The Prancing Princess slam dunked a FIRST PLACE finish with a respectable 192.5 score to take the BLUE RIBBON and a beautiful DCA Trophy! (1st CDX leg)) - her instructor at the RDLC deserves kudos for preparing the (formerly) Disobedient Dalmatian for the competition!
On Friday, the Dastardly Dalmatian pulled an NQ in both runs (Standard & JWW) at the GDDC show. Once again she was one of only two Dals in Excellent B and she managed to make one mistake on each run which cost her the qualifications!
In her off time, the Delightful Dalmatian toured the Rocky Mountains, visited Mt. Rushmore (which, in her opinion, should have the faces of a Dalmatian, Rottweiler, Corgi, & Westie on it), checked out the Black Hills & Badlands of South Dakota, and swam in the Missouri & Mississippi Rivers. She also concluded that Kansas is basically a 488 mile long field with an interstate highway through it! And, as an athlete, Spot couldn't resist a stop in South Bend, IN to visit the hallowed grounds of Notre Dame and the ghosts of Knute Rockne, the "Gipper" and the Four Horsemen! - what inspiration!
Spot also made friends with a number of Dals from across the country including Lager & Einstein (Florida), Pablo (Colorado), BJ (New Mexico), and Holly, Ole, and Koshare (New Mexico).
And, she met her aunt, CH Wedgewood Cajo Calais Classic, who is from Indianapolis and (by the way) took first place in the Veteran Bitches (8-10 yrs) event in the conformation ring! Apparently, good looks AND brains run in the family!!
In other news, the Determined Dalmatian managed a 3rd place finish on the Blue Course at the Pup-Peroni Regional Classic in York, PA on July 11, 1999, took a First Place Excellent A finish at the Erie Kennel Club agility trial on July 4, 1999 and finished her Excellent JWW title with two back to back Second Place finishes at the Williamsport DTC agility trial in June.
She is now Princess Spotte Obviously, CD, AX, AXJ ( 1/3 CDX, and 1/10 MXJ!)
Next up - look for Team Spot at the Tamarack Lake Agility Trial in Franklin, PA on 8/7 & 8/8, followed by the Westmoreland DTC Agility Trial in Greensburg, PA on 8/14 & 8/15, and the Susque-Nango KC Agility Trial in Binghamton, NY on 8/28 & 8/29. In addition, Spot is looking for obedience trial dates to zoom in on that CDX title!
That's the news for now, Spots Fans! Stay tuned to the ASN for updates on the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat!!
(p.s. - The Princess says "congratulations" to boy toy Five on his
Champion title!!)
