My Snake Collection

Welcome to "My Snakies' Page". This section is dedicated to my pet snakes. I currently own three Ball Pythons and one Colulmbian Red-tail boa constrictor.

"Slick"
Slick was the first snake I got when I got back into keeping snakes...A great Ball python. Slick is a CB98 male. I have always had a great interest in snakes and thay still facinate me every day. It was great to get a snake with such a good temperment. He is a very gentile and docile little guy. He seems to enjoy being handled and will fall asleep right in your hands, but was a bit shy when I first brought him home, but he has turned into the most tame snake I have ever handled. He spends most of his time sleeping, and loves to lay out on my computer keyboard...especially when I am trying to do work. Slick is definately one of my favorites and tends to get spoiled a bit.

"Pandora"
Pandora was the third addition to my collection. Pandora is a CB98 female Ball python, still growing and about the same age and size as Slick. When I first brought her home...she was not too fond of being handled or being around people at all. Occasionally, she would even strike at me if I moved to quickly around her. (Well, strike near me...She never got closer than two feet from my hand. I think she was just acting tough)She had not been handled at all before I got her. But I spent some time with her, convincing her that I would not hurt her, and she has grown to trust me. Now she is very calm and is one of the sweetest snakes I own. She does occasionally get into a pissy mood, but I guess even snakes are allowed to have bad days.

"Phaedra"
Pheadra is a fairly new addition to my collection. Phaedra is a beautiful 2 1/2 ft. CB98 female Boa constrictor. It took some time for her to acclimate to her new surroundings and she was very skittish for quite a while, but she now feels right at home and has calmed down considerably. She is a little bit nervous of sudden movements but she has never tried to bite yet. She seems very curious and interested in me and enjoys to explore when I bring her out. She loves to roam around outside her tank...she comes right over to me when I open the tank and then crawls back up my arm when I try to put her back. She crawls up and sits on my head sometimes. As with Pandora, it took her a little bit of time to realize I wasn't going to hurt her. Now she seems content hanging around on a branch in her enclosure, or bathing in the water. She is getting bigger all the time and is a great addition to my collection.

"Sage"
Sage is the newest addition to my collection. I traded one of my snakes, Skitch, for him. He is a beautiful CB97 Ball python, Around 3 1/2 to 4 ft. and is filling out nicely. He has very light coloration compared to my others. The moment I saw him I had to have him. He was very well cared for, but is a bit of a grump. He is the only ball I have ever worked with that seems to have a bit of a mean streak...I know he is not being mean, he is just a rather nervous and jumpy snake. I got him as an adult so he is pretty set in his ways, but I have made some progress with him...He doesn't mind being handled anymore...it's just the picking up part he has a problem with. All attitude problems aside though, he is a great snake and he made an awesome additon to the family.

Now "Balls" are famous for being finicky eaters, but someone obviously forgot to tell my three. Slick devours any mouse that walks in front of him, and Sage will scarf down anything on four legs that he can fit in his mouth, and Pandora seems to have a hearty appetite as well. All three are very aggressive feeders, especially Slick and Sage, they strike quick and hard as soon as food is introduced. Oh, don't get me wrong...I'm not complaining, I feel blessed that they do eat without a problem, and hope they continue to do so.

Past Pets

"Skitch"

Well, After a lot of thought I made the tough decision to give up my buddy skitch. I have a friend that had a beautiful 3 ft. male ball python (Sage) that I had to have. He was willing to sell it to me, but I was then faced with the problem of not having room for another snake. It turned out he was looking for an adult as he only had smaller ones. So after thinking about it for a day or two, I grabbed Skitch and got in the car to go make the trade. It wasn't tough because I knew he was going to a good home, plus I was getting a great snake in return, but I will miss the big guy. Good luck to you both, enjoy each other.
