Gulf War Syndrome is a very real illness. The most common symptoms are difficulty concentrating, depression, memory loss, fatigue, dizziness and painful joints.
Iowa Persian Gulf Study.
There are many different points of view on what has caused GWS. Dr. Robert Haley's findings
has broken GWS down into three different Syndromes. All three syndromes are the result of exposure to chemical warfare agents, pesticides, insect repellant and PB pills (nerve gas antidote).
Think about this! The EPA provides The Dept.of Agriculture with warning pamphlets for distribution with pesticides. The pamphlets states: IF FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS AND RASHES OCCUR AFTER
USING THESE COMPOUNDS SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. EXPOSURE TO THESE COMPOUNDS HAS BEEN LINKED TO CHRONIC ILLNESS, AND NEUROLOGICAL AND MUSCULOSKELETAL ILLNESSES. The next time you pick up a chemical product, read the chemical make up and the warnings. Than think about how minute that amount is compared to what the soldiers were exposed to.
What did this select group of people have in common?
They were stationed in the same geographical location and they couldn't get enough rest. It was a very stressful time, and they were unable to maintain their normal standards of personnel cleanliness. When they returned home they began having health problems. Some began to died of heart failure, some from central nervous system diseases not normally seen in this age group, and cancer. They also began to notice that their spouses and children started suffering the same symptoms.
The Dept. of Defence and The Dept. of Veterans Affairs research studies limited the number of symptoms that could be registered in there studies. Many of these veterans have a dozen and more symptoms. The research was also gathered only from those still on active duty. The US military has a high standard of physical fitness. If you are unable to maintain these standards you are discharged.
