Following the war the Air Cadet Program, its aims and
training were changed to meet more practical needs of the youth
in Canada. It was now administered by a joint partnership between
the RCAF and a civilian Air Cadet League. The new aims were to
promote attributes of citizenship, leadership, and physical fitness,
and to stimulate an interest in the Air Element of what is now
known as the Canadian Forces. The age limits were also changed
f                                               at this time to allow young men aged thirteen to nineteen to

In the 1950's the Squadron moved to RCAF Station Kitsilano
in Vancouver and was given the name "Vancouver Squadron."
Following the closing of RCAF Station Kitsilano in 1965, the
squadron moved to its present location in the Seaforth Armouries.
In 1978 the squadron again changed it's name to become known
                                                as "Challenger."

In 1975 the Canadian Parliament officially authorized the
enrolment of young women into the cadet program. This allowed
females to take advantage of all training programmes and
compete equally for promotions. However, it is known that some
females had been admitted to Squadrons before this time.

Since the formation of the Air Cadet League in 1941, the
Air Cadet organization has continued to evolve and serve the
needs of several hundred thousand young people across Canada.
In 1988, the age of enrolment was reduced from thirteen to
its present age of twelve. The Canadian Cadet programme is
one of the largest and best youth programmes in the world,
and the Royal Canadian Air Cadets is the largest with over 40,000
                                                cadets in over 400 Squadrons
..
135 Challenger is one of the oldest and longest established
