AMERICA'S NEW WAR?
The Gunny grieves with the families, friends, survivors, co-workers and all of America and the World over the losses in Washington, New York and Pennsylvania!
The Gunny praises and thanks all of the brave men, women and organizations that risk and give so much to the rescue, recovery and investigative efforts!
AMERICANS STAND TOGETHER AND STAND PROUD!
We were appalled - we were hurt - we grieve - we rebuild and we continue!
Continue to live - continue to enjoy freedom - continue to be Americans!There is a saying, "Freedom has a taste the protected will never know!" All Americans will continue to be protected as well as our courageous men and women of the uniformed and investigative services can possibly provide them! However, on September 11, 2001 the HOMELAND was attacked and the "protected" was given a taste. Freedom comes at a cost and normally, for Americans, that cost is usually paid for by those in uniform and always on some distant shore.
Many in the government and in the media are calling this "Americas New War," but is it such a new war? What about the the earlier car bombing of the World Trade Center? Oklahoma City? An airliner off the coast of New York? Were these not "Acts of War" by terrorist upon the Homeland?
Though not declared there has been a "War Against Terrorism" for a long time. Before the War Between the States a terrorist raid was led by John Brown at Harper's Ferry, VA. American civilians were held hostage on the train they rode. Military force was used to end that raid, but it did not end terrorism! Other examples could be cited and then we should take into account the terrorist attacks on Americans abroad. Throughout its history America and its people have suffered at the hands of terrorism!
This is not a "New War," but now is the time to make this a "NEW-TYPE War!" In this New-Type War America and countries world wide need to use every weapon at their disposal. Use diplomacy, judiciary systems and gather intelligence. Use sanctions, comb the world's back alleys and attack their means of finance. Use everything! Attack them!
If this is going to be a war and if this is going to work then the military will have to be involved. By involved, the Gunny means that the men and women of the uniformed services are going to have to do what the uniformed services were meant to do --- FIGHT! Our countries fighting forces are the best trained, the best armed and best in spirit. These fine brave men and women have had to watch, for the most part, for too many years. They have had to watch fellow Americans, in uniform and out, suffer from the twisted minds of terrorists. These brave Americans in arms had to watch knowing that they were a means of putting an end to some of the needless death, pain and heartbreak. Yes! Some will fall, but all of us that have taken up arms in honor and defense of
know the risks. America has been attacked again! Americas military muscle is taunt and ready to deliver another blow for FREEDOM!
