~ My wife was with me on many of these outings and her luck this year was really bad. I mean; if she set into a fair sized bass it would stay around only long enough for us to see the size. Then it would either throw the lure or the line would break. To make things worst for her, she didn't get a fish on all that often.
~ Now, I had taught her to fish the year before and with in 5 months she had landed a near 7 pound bass. It had taken 5 years before I managed to land my first bass over 6 pounds. She could really work a plastic worm. So, she has a good idea of what she is doing.
~ Well, the year I had the buckle and such great luck, she would stand there watching as I reeled in another good sized bass. For that matter any size would cause her to just stare at me. After I landed the fish I would hold it up for her to see and I would say, "You don't have one of these good-luck buckles!" She would glare and scowl! I am here to tell you that she searched the county for one of the buckles, but she could not find one anywhere!
~ Just before Christmas I saw one while shopping and got it for her. When she opened it on Christmas day she laughed and said, "You just wait for next year! I'll make you wish you never heard of that lake."
~ Well, friends, you would never guess, but the way things worked out this year neither she nor I made it to the lake even once. She has never had the buckle on. In fact it is still in the box.
