Wendy is also a Storekeeper Fist Class Petty Officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve. She is presently assigned to the Ocean Terminal Norfolk, VA; a division of Fleet Industrial Supply Center (FISC), Norfolk, VA. Wendy started out her Reserve military career in 1977 with an enlistment in the U.S. Army Reserve, 98th Division, in Batavia, NY. After meeting a "sailor" while visiting her sister and brother-in-law in Virginia, she completed her enlistment as a Spec 4 (5 selectee), and was transferred to the Army's Inactive Reserve just prior to the birth of our first son, Justin, in 1981. By 1982, while "RustPicker" was on Recruiting Duty for the Naval Reserve, Wendy decided she wanted to switch over under the provisions of the "Other Service" (OSVET) Program, and was approved and enlisted in August, 1982, as a Seaman (SN). Wendy has served with several reserve units throughout her career, and came up through the ranks the hard way, by On the Job Training (OJT). Wendy started her Reserve career at the Naval & Marine Corps Reserve Center, Rochester, NY with Naval Control & Shipping Unit (NCSO). In 1985, Wendy did a short stint with NR NAS Meridian MS, from NAVAIRES, NAS Memphis, TN, and then on to NR NAVMASSO from NAS Norfolk, VA. In 1987, Wendy transferred to the NR Naval Supply Center, until 1988, where she went overseas with RustPicker to the Republic of Panama. There, she drilled with NR Rodman, Naval Base, Panama Canal Zone, Panama, which incidentally supported U.S. Troops in the Combat Operation "Just Cause", operating MSBs from the Panama Canal. Returning to the U.S. when checked into NR FOSSAT at Naval Base Norfolk in 1990 and then transferred to NR Ocean Terminal FISC in 1995, where she continues to drill presently.
