RustPicker's Bio

Heritage    Back in 1975, during my senior year in High School (Jackson Central Merry, Jackson, TN) I didn't have a clue what I would be doing after I graduated.  I already had an older brother in the Navy, and my father had served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict.    That graphic image you see, originally a World War II recruiting poster, said it all for me.  That's what I thought the Navy was all about.... Tradition, Honor, Courage and Commitment, as these same concepts were later known to became the Navy's "Core Values".  Bell Bottom pants were the fashion of the times, and there was only one Military Service that wore "Bell bottoms".  I was hooked and in February of 1976, I enlisted into the United States Navy CACHE program (it's now called DEP) and 20 days after graduating High School, left for Naval Recruit Training Command, Orlando, FL on June 20th, 1976, which commenced my Naval career. Now with a chest full of ribbons and Pins, all good things come to an end,  thus will my Naval Career in, the year of our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and ninety-eight. If you'd like to see the Pins I wear and their description, click on the link "Pins of a Sailor" in the links below. Of course you may go back to the Index Page or any of the other links of this site down there too. Word of caution though..... If the link doesn't connect up, and you get the GeoCities " Page doesn't exist..., you may want to use your browser's Back Page feature (maybe a couple of pages :o] ).
