The Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program is a military style program, modeled after the U.S. Air Force, which introduces young men and women to aviation, community involvement, and offers many educational and exciting activities. The Cadet Program is based on a strict curriculum designed to introduce cadets to, and encourage them to become involved with aerospace sciences and career fields, and the U.S. military . CAP cadets progress through a challenging program, comprising 15 seperate achievements. Each achievement requires the cadet to pass a written test on leadership principles and aerospace sciences. With the completion of each achievement, the cadet is awarded a higher rank, and with certain achievements, may have new activities made available to them. The final achievement offers the greatest opportunities of all to a cadet, and therefore is highly sought after.

Although the Cadet Program focuses on the military, not all cadets seek military service. All aspects of the curriculum are designed to reinforce good moral values, personal pride, responsibility, self-respect, teamwork, and and overall sense of self worth for anyone to use in any environment. In order to achieve sucess, cadets must meet certain expectations. The Civial Air Patrol has specific requirements for attendance to meetings, persoanl appearance, and physical conditioning.

The Cadet Program is open to anyone 12 years of age(or currently enrolled in the 6th grade), and not older than 18. Cadets may remain in the program until they are 21.
