"But the Lord has become my fortress, and my God is the rock in whom I take refuge."
-- Psalm 94:22
Before I had even opened my eyes
You breathed the wind of life in me
You make my life possible
You've given me a place in your home
You are my heart and soul
Yet, somehow, when I need You most
My human brain can only think now
Then You gently whisper to my heart
Remember when you put your trust in me?
Let me take care of your hurt
So then I bow my head and ask Your guidence
I hold my head up with renewed faith
You knew my life's plan
Before my mother had named me
You had touched me with your hand
You made my beating heart
You graced me with a voice
and hands with the grace of an angel's harp
You see the road around each bend
You know every crossroad
and the dangers lying ahead
An assurance of life everlasting
You hear my every prayer
and know my plea before I'm even asking
You are what I'm living for
You know my deepest sorrow
and have left, into Your loving arms, an open door
I forget You know my future
My mind discards the fact that all my pain
You'll hold in Your arms and lovingly nurture
What I want is all that matters
The Big Picture is unimportant
All I can see is the rain that now softly patters
"Stop, take in a breath of air
This is all in my plan
I know so much more than you are aware
Why do you hold on to such petty things?
Don't forget that the chill of winter
fades into the warmth of spring
I have a purpose for every trial
The road ahead of you may seem long
but it all fits in somewhere, my child.
How could I have been so wrong?
When I end my silent prayer
My soul sings with a cherebim's song
Let thunder and lightning come if they must
I'll no longer try to make it on my own
For this wall and others to come, You have all my trust
"Cast all your anxiety upon him because he cares for you."
-- 1 Peter 5:7
