The 2nd ANNUAL DESIGNER'S CHALLENGE

The lovely creations you are about to view represent the magic that resulted from *challenging* several online Gene lovers to create any ensemble of their choice using green Dupioni silk. So � just what happens when you send nearly 2 dozen designers the exact same fabric to work with?! Nothing predictable � and something spectacular!!! We wish to extend our deepest thanks to the designers - who have generously donated their time and talent to make the 1999 Designer Challenge possible! To find out how to add one of these exquisite creations to your collection, simply follow the request procedure outlined below. Please remember to click on a graphic for a larger view. Please note: The dolls shown, and any items not listed within the description, are not included.
PLEASE NOTE: There is only one colour of green silk being used. It is a clear, emerald shade of green. Some monitors, cameras, scanners, digital cameras will affect the shades of colours. What you see is perhaps not the truest of images to capture the exact colour. Please bear this in mind. All of the ensembles are cut from the exact same piece of the emerald silk.

Request Procedure



1. E-mail your request(s) to purchase to Jan Sylvester, at: [email protected].
Please include your full name, your mailing address, and a telephone number where you can be reached for notification and/or confirmation. Also include any additional email addresses that may needed (taking into account weekends, evenings, home vs. work, etc.)

2. Please specify your choice(s) by DESIGNER NAME, and in the order of preference� example: 1 is your most favorite, 2 is your second choice, etc� Please make sure that you would be completely happy with any/all of your choices.

3. Requests will be accepted immediately upon showcase debut on Wednesday, Sept. 15th until 12:00 midnight PST on Saturday, September 18th. At that time all requests will be processed and one donor will be selected to receive each outfit. Notification of the winners will begin on Sunday, September 19th.

4. Your $99. donation is payable directly to "The City of Angels Ballet". The remittance address will be included in your notification email, and it is also found at the top of each website page. Upon receipt of your donation (AND any subsequent clearing, if the donation is made by personal check) the designer will be instructed to mail the outfit directly to you. The designers have graciously agreed to cover the mailing cost.

5. Since this is a charitable event, please remember that you are making a *donation* to the ballet, and the outfit you receive is merely a *gift* thanking you for your donation� as such, we would like to request that *no returns or exchanges* will take place.

Some further thoughts



The winning donors names will not be posted on this site, in the interest of confidentiality and fairness to all. This challenge is not unlike a well-danced ballet, in that it requires the dedicated efforts of ALL involved if it is to result in both true enjoyment and unique beauty. This showcase in no way represents a competition between designers, but rather a collective effort that has resulted in so much more than a display of the outer beauty of their creations� it is an indication of the inner beauty and goodwill that truly does exist within our Gene collector community.
