Title: Scourge of Paris

Appearance: Alexandre is, in a word, beautiful. Of average height and slight build, he has classically flawless features, including fine, soft corn silkhair and a clear, slightly dusky complexion. It is his eyes that are his most arresting feature, they burn with a luminous green intensity that illustrates his passions for all to see above a full, sensual mouth.

Notes: Born in 1865, Alexandre is a distaff cousin of the Lorraine-Tuscany line, whose most notable member is Joseph II, Holy Roman Emperor (and elder brother of Marie Antoinette). As their relationship is a distant one, via marriage, Alexandre spent little enough time anywhere near the court as a child, though the family did spend parts of several years in Vienna. Most of his early life was spent on family holdings in the south of France.

Alexandre was a beautiful, precocious child, beloved and indulged by his family (which consisted mainly of his mother, as his father's position as a legate to Rome kept him away from home for much of the time, though Alexandre did visit him for one or two fairly lengthy stays as a child).

Though not possessed of a penetrating intellect, Alexandre was nonetheless an astute enough observer of human nature, often taking sides in minor issues of the human condition (as seen by an adolescent) with surprising passion and memorable eloquence. Coupled with an intense sensitivity and notable talent at musical composition (he is captivated by the genius of Mozart, though he considers him too flippant at times), Alexandre was sent to Paris to study at the Sorbonne, where a series of encounters with other young, like-minded people eventually led him to the circle of future Jacobins and changed his life.

Although he himself was indulged in a comfortable, provincial environment as a child, Alexandre came to see the inherent injustice of the Monarchist system and the abuses thereof. Using his music (he is rabidly well thought-of among the Revolutionary set, though he never achieved widespread recognition, at least as of yet) as a venue to reach others of like mind, he began to engage in fierce debates and emotional orations with others of his age. Though he likely skirted official censure on many occasions, his family background saved him from disaster until late 1785, when a series of satirical offerings concerning the Diamond Necklace Affair following his increasingly well-attended performances finally landed him squarely in the establishmentary crosshairs. His trial was something of a minor sensation, attended by many of the young Revolutionaries and defended by none other than Georges-Jacques Danton, but the outcome was never in doubt. He was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment (considered an overly harsh sentence) and taken to the Bastille.

There he remained until July 14, 1789, when that forbidding edifice was stormed and its (surprisingly few) inmates released. Now a political fugitive, his years of imprisonment have done nothing to blunt the edge of his fervor.
