Hercules' Story

"Long ago, in the faraway land of of ancient Greece, there was a golden age of powerful gods and extraordinary heroes. And the greatest and strongest of these heroes was the mighty Hercules. But, what is the measure of a true hero? That is what this story is all about..."
Sorry for preempting this monologue, but I gotta tell you from the top, honey, not this summary! This is about Hunkules, er, Hercules, we don't want it sounding like the word of Zeus! We are the Muses, Goddesses of the Arts and Proclaimers of Heroes! We'll tell you the story of what really happened in Ancient Greece!
Earth was a nasty place with gigantic brutes called Titans running amuck until along came Zeus who zapped those suckers right into the Underworld! The big Z became ruler of all the gods up on Mount Olympus where life was smooth! Old Hothead Hades was sent to rule the underworld... Now, Hades is one god you don't want to get steamed up! He had a nasty plan to shake things up and throw Zeus right out of Mount Olympus with the help of those Titan brutes! The creepy three Fates warned him that his plans would be endangered if Hercules, Zeus's bouncing, blue eyed baby boy, is still hangin' around by the time he tries to take over Mount Olympus! Hades sends his bad boy demons Pain and Panic to make Hercules just like you, mortal, and kill him! Well honey, those half wits fail in their attempt, but young Herc is mortal now... since he didn't drink that last drop though and he retained his god-like strength, thank his lucky stars! Zeus and Hera have watch their precious baby grown up from afar... and grow our boy does! He grows into the poster boy for awkward teenagers, all knees and elbows, honey! His foster parents soon fess up and tell Herc he is the son of Zeus and our boy hotfoots it to have a little chat with his old man! Zeus breaks the bad news and tells his boy that in order to return to Mt. Olympus he must be a "true hero" and sends him to be trained by Philoctetes, that's Phil to you and me, the satyr. Our man Herc turns into a tower of power with muscle and hustle and all the rage in Thebes, "The Big Olive", after battling monsters of all kinds that a sizzling mad Hades sends his way! But, the Big Z tells hims it's STILL not enough to prove he's a true hero! The Golden Boy is even able to save Mt. Olympus from Hades' take-over, honey! But, he only becomes a god again after he offers to exchange his life in order to save the soul of Meg, his love, from Hades' underworld and learns that a true hero is not measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart. And that's the gospel truth!
