Danny's Story
A poor peasant from the little town of Kokomo, Danny is a cat with a dream, he wants to sing and dance in the movies! So, Danny leaves his little town and travels to the place where dreams like that come true, Hollywood, in it's Golden Age of the late 1930's.
Things are not as Danny thought they would be though. Instead of the glamour of showbiz he expected, he finds a town that is prejudiced against animal actors, and won't let them have anything more than small parts in the movies, while the humans star. He finds that all of the animals who came to Hollywood with big dreams before he did, in particular a bitter white dancing cat named Sawyer, have had their dreams crushed. So many, many broken dreams. They tell Danny that Hollywood is no place for animals, but he is determined.
After a harrowing experience with a demonic child actress named Darla Dimple, Danny is more determined than ever to help his friends remember their dreams and get them in the movies. He arranges for an audition for all of them, but Darla and her ape henchman, Max, horribly sabotage it. All of the animals are thrown out of Mammoth Studios being told that they "Will never nibble kibble in this town again!" Crushed, Danny miserably packs up to go back to Kokomo, until he gets an idea...
The night of the big premiere of Darla's new movie, Danny convinces his friends to give it one more shot. "You can't forget feeling, can you? Now, let's go out there and show them what we can do!" The animals put on an extraordinary show stopping number, this time aided by Darla's attempted sabotage instead of hindered. They knock the crowd off their feet, leaving them breathless and are given contracts immediately! Darla, on the other hand is reduced to Janitor status. Through Danny's steadily optimistic attitude and his absolute refusal to give up, the animals are now given parts in all the big movies like Singing in the Rain, Twister, and of course, Free Tilly.
