Basil's Story

A quick thinker with a brilliant mind, Basil of Bakerstreet is England's famous mouse detective. Modeling himself after his upstairs neighbor, the great Sherlock Holmes, Basil has an excellent case record and the mice of London always turn to him when they need a case solved! So, when little Olivia Flavisham's father is kidnapped by a peg-legged bat, he is the first mouse she turns to. With the help of the kindly Dr. Dawson, Olivia finds Basil and tries to tell him what happened to her father. However, Basil, hot on the trail of his arch-nemesis, Ratigan, at first refuses to even listen, let alone help! But, when the famous detective learns that the kidnapper was none other than Fidgit, Ratigan's batty henchman, he is on the case immediatly. With the help of Dawson and the hound Toby, Basil soon uncovers Ratigan's dastardly plot, to kill the mouse queen and take the throne! Brilliantly thinking his way through every tight situation, Basil arrives just in time to save the queen and the throne from Ratigan's clutches. However, Ratigan is the Napoleon of Crime and won't be beaten that easily! Snatching Olivia, he flees with Basil, Dawson and Mr. Flavisham hot on his trail. After an amazing chase through Big Ben, Olivia is reunited with her father, but Basil and Ratigan are still fighting high atop the great clock face. They both fall from the clock, and Basil's friends fear him lost... However, his amazing mind saves his life once again and he and Dawson are honored by the queen herself! After their tremendous success on this case, Basil gives Dawson the position of associate, "with whom he does ALL his cases with."
