Herbs And Healing

Leaf Bar

It is estimated that 50 percent of all current prescription drugs were

originally derived fron herbs. Many readily available herbs are potent.

An herb such as foxglove provided the basis for creating the heart

failure drug known as digitalis. South American Indians used the bark

of the Chincona tree to treat malaria as early as 1638, and two hundred

years later quinine-the cure for malaria-was derived from the bark

of the same tree. Herbal folk remedies often contain a kernal of truth.

People customarily eat after-dinner mints but how many know that

mint has been an herbal digestive for centuries?

Care and moderation in the use of herbs should always be practised.

The natural remedies suggested here should never be substituted

for a doctor's medical care.

Consult a doctor if you suspect you are suffering from some illness!
