Scott is a native of Connecticut and a graduate of the University of Connecticut's School of Agriculture.

He is employed by the Harry and David Division of The Bear Creek Corp., as The Director of Orchard Operations, which covers about 2800 acres of produce.

Scott has been growing giant pumpkins since 1985. That year, he grew the largest pumpkin in the world, which was weighed in at the Toppsfield Fair in Toppsfield, Massachusetts by the World Pumpkin Confederation.

He appeared on The Johnny Carson Show in 1985, as a result of that pumpkin. He continued to grow pumpkins for 8 more years, until his job became to time consuming to continue to be a grower. But he discovered that he had a natural gift for carving these monsters.

He has been carving pumpkins now for about 11 years.

This year he traveled over 15,000 miles in a 5 week period to carve in Ontario; Seattle; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Washington D.C; Atlantic City; and Pittsburgh.

The highlight of the 1999 carving season: Carving at Vice-President Al Gore's residence, meeting Al Gore and attending his exclusive Halloween party!

He has also carved for The Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Connecticut and The Spirit Mountain Casino in Oregon.
