The Kathy Mann Save-A-Foal Foal Fund was created in 2001. Kathy Mann of
Colorado generously donated a breeding to her Oldenburg stallion Mannhattan
to FoalQuest as a means of raising funds for this year's PMU foal rescue
efforts. The breeding was auctioned off on EBay and raised over $900 for
FoalQuest 2001!
As a token of appreciation, some FoalQuest members collected donations to
buy Kathy flowers and a thank you gift. But she would have no part of it.
After much discussion, Kathy decided a fund should be initiated for the
specific purpose of saving a foal, ideally one with special needs, and that
the monies raised for her thank you gift would be seed money for the fund.

UPDATE!!!!� Since Dream Catcher's hernia resolved on its own and Jan had a�
willing adoptive home, he has been placed.� Instead, the Kathy Mann Fund
will sponsor TWO foals this year, both going to be fostered by Michelle
Eddy, our original foster home.� Jan will be choosing two foals for the KMF
foals
BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!� We were JUST able to afford getting these two foals
and have only $10 left� in the fund to cover their routine and emergency
veterinary care and farrier work.� Michelle and her husband are donating the
feed and daily care, but wee need to have money on hand for vaccines,
deworming and castration if one or both foals are colts.� Not to mention any
of those unforeseen vet emergencies that can arise even when you do
everything right!
So please - donate if you can.� You'll be helping TWO foals this year who
will go to good permanent homes, and your money will return to the fund for
saving foals next year too.
All donations to the fund are gratefully accepted.Please note that all
donated funds will be used exclusively for the purchase of the foal,
transport to the foster home and his/her care.� There are no administrative
expenses or compensation of any type paid out of these funds.� This is an
excellent opportunity to take part in saving a foal, even if you are unable

Donations are placed in a separate trust account and will be used solely for
the purposes of purchasing each year's foal, as well as paying that foal's
hauling and medical expenses. Anything left over, as well as the donation
fee paid when the foal is ready to go, is returned to the fund for the
subsequent year.
