BALTHASAR

Balthasar was from the city of Godolia.  He was believed to have been the King of Arabia.  He is mentioned in the Roman Martyrology on January 11.

The Three Wise Men, all of whom were from the East, were the first religious figures to worship Christ.  They followed the Star of Bethlehem to the manger where the baby Jesus was born to present them their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The gifts were meant to symbolize Christ’s Kingship, his divinity, and his passive mortal nature.
