I love to do thread crochet as well as making dolls. One of my favorite things in thread is doilies! I just love to use them to decorate my house.

PETALS DOILY

MATERIALS: Bedspread weight cotton, 1 ball. Steel crochet hook size 6 (1.50 mm). GAUGE: Rnds 1-4 = 3"

Ch 8, join with sl st to form ring.
RND 1: Ch 4 (counts as first tr, now and throughout), 23 tr in ring; join with sl st to first tr: 24 tr.
RND 2: Ch 7, (counts as first tr plus ch 3, now and throughout), sk next tr, * tr in next tr, ch 3 sk next tr; rep from * around; join with sl st to first tr: 12 ch-3 sps.
RND 3: Sl st in first ch-3 sp, ch 4, 4 tr in same sp, ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, * 5 tr in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3; rep from * around; join with sl st to first tr: 30 tr.
NOTE: Work cluster as follows: * YO twice, insert hook in next tr and pull up a loop, (YO and draw thru 2 loops on hook) twice; rep from * 4 times more, YO and draw through all 6 loops on hook (Cluster made).
RND 4: Ch 3, [YO twice, insert hook in next tr and pull up a loop, (YO and draw thru 2 loops on hook) twice] 4 times, YO and draw thru all 5 loops on hook, ch 5, (tr in next ch-3 sp, ch 5) twice, * work cluster, ch 5, (tr in next ch-3 sp, ch 5) twice; rep from * around; join with sl st to top of first st: 18 loops.
RND 5: Sl st in first loop, ch 1, [(sc, ch 3, sl st in same sc, sc) in same loop (Picot made)], ch 5, 5 tr in next loop, * ch 5, (work Picot in next loop, ch 5) twice, 5 tr in next loop; rep from * around to last loop; ch 5 work Picot in next loop, ch 2, dc in first sc to form last loop.
RND 6: Ch 1, work Picot in same loop, ch 6, work Picot in next loop, ch 6, work Cluster, * ch 6, (work Picot in next loop, ch 6) 3 times, work Cluster; rep from * around to last loop, ch 6, work Picot in next loop, ch 3, dc in first sc to form last loop.
RND 7: Ch 1, sc in same loop, (ch 7, sc in next loop) around, ch 3, tr in first sc to form loop: 24 loops.
RND 8: Ch 7, tr in same loop, ch 4, 5 tr in next loop, ch 4, * (tr, ch 3, tr) in next loop, ch 4, 5 tr in next loop, ch 4, rep from * around; join with sl st to first tr.
RND 9: Sl st in first loop, ch 4, 4 tr in same loop, ch 4, sc in next loop, ch 4, work Cluster, ch 4, sc in next loop, ch 4, * 5 tr in next loop, ch 4, sc in next loop, ch 4 work Cluster, ch 4, sc in next loop, ch 4, rep from * around; join with sl st to first tr.
RND 10: Ch 3, [YO twice, insert hook in next tr and pull up a loop, (YO and draw thru 2 loops on hook) twice] 4 times, YO and draw thru all 5 loops on hook, ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 6, (work Picot in next loop, ch 6) twice, sc in next loop, * ch 5, work Cluster, ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 6, (work Picot in next loop, ch 6) twice, sc in next loop; rep from * around, ch 2, dc in first st to form last loop.
RND 11: Ch 1, sc in same loop, ch 5, (sc in next loop, ch 5) twice, work Picot in next loop, * ch 5, (sc in next loop, ch 5) 4 times, work Picot in next loop; rep from * around to last loop, ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 2, dc in first sc to form last loop: 60 loops.
RND 12: Ch 1, sc in same loop, (ch 6, sc in next loop) around, ch 3, dc in first sc to form last loop.
RND 13: Ch 4, 3 tr in same loop, ch 1, (4 tr in next loop, ch 1) around; join with sl st to first tr.
RND 14: Sl st in next 3 tr and in first ch-1 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 5, (sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 5) around; join with sl st to first sc.
RND 15: Sl st in first loop, ch 4, 3 tr in same loop, ch 1, (4 tr in next loop, ch 1) around; join with sl st to first tr.
NOTE: Work 4 tr Cluster as follows: * YO twice, insert hook in next tr and pull up a loop, (YO and draw thru 2 loops on hook) twice; rep from * 3 times more, YO and draw thru all 5 loops on hook (4-tr cluster made).
RND 16: Ch 3, [YO twice, insert hook in next tr and pull up a loop, (YO and draw thru 2 loops on hook) twice] 3 times, YO and draw thru all 4 loops on hook, (ch 5, work 4-tr cluster) around, ch 2, dc in first st to form last loop: 60 clusters.
RND 17: Ch 1, work Picot in same loop, (ch 6, work Picot in next loop) around, ch 3, dc in first sc to form last loop.
RND 18: Ch 1, work Picot in same loop, (ch 7, work Picot in next loop) around, ch 3, tr in first sc to form last loop.
RND 19: Ch 1, sc in same loop, ch 7, (sc in next loop, ch 7) around; join with sl st to first sc.
RND 20: Sl st in first loop, ch 1, 7 sc in ea loop around; join with sl st to first sc, finish off.



PRETTY PILLOW

MATERIALS: Size 20 crochet cotton, steel crochet hook size 8, 10 x 10 pillow insert, and 8 yds of 1/8" wide ribbon.
Front and back are crocheted in one piece. Turn at the end of each row.

Ch 210, join with sl st.
ROW 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in ea remaining ch. Sl st in top of beginning ch 3, turn.
ROW 2: Ch 3, dc in ea st around. Sl st in top of beginning ch 3, turn.
ROW 3 - 4: Repeat row 2.
ROW 5: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, skip 2 sts, dc in next st, skip 2 sts, * 5 dc in next st, skip 2 sts, dc in next st, skip 2 sts, repeat from * around, ending with 2 dc in same st as beginning ch 3, turn.
ROW 6 - 8: Repeat row 5.
ROW 9 - 12: Repeat row 2.
ROW 13: Ch 3, dc in next st, ch 2, sk 2 sts, * dc in next 3 sts, ch 2, skip 2 sts, repeat from * around, ending with dc in last st. Sl st in top of beginning ch 3, turn.
ROW 14 - 16: Repeat row 13.
ROW 17 - 20: Repeat row 2.
ROW 21 - 24: Repeat row 5.
ROW 25 - 28: Repeat row 2.
ROW 29 - 32: Repeat row 13.
ROW 33 - 36: Repeat row 2.
ROW 37 - 40: Repeat row 5.
ROW 41 - 44: Repeat row 2. DO NOT ch 3 at end of row 44. DO NOT cut thread.

TO JOIN TOP:

Fold, matching front and back. Ch 1, picking up st from front and back, sc in ea st across. Fasten off.
Insert pillow. To join bottom, attach thread in end of bottom row. Ch 1, picking up st from front and back sc in ea st across. Fasten off.
Cut ribbon in 1 yard lenghts and lace ribbon thru open space rows as follows: Starting at left side of 1st open row, in 6th sp from end, lace ribbon around pillow, make ends even, tie 2" bow, trim ends. Start ribbon in next open space row in 9th space from end. Start ribbon in next open space row in 12th space from end. Start ribbon in next open space row in 15th space from end. Lace ribbon thru above open spaces in same way.



RUFFLED CANDLE COLLARS

I love to use these to fancy up the kitchen!

MATERIALS: Size 20 crochet cotton, steel crochet hook size 10, liquid starch, 1/8" wide ribbon in desired color.

Ch 30, join with sl st to form ring.
RND 1: Ch 3, dc in same ch, 2 dc in ea remaining ch. Sl st in top of beg ch 3. (60 sts)
RND 2: Ch 5, * sc in next st, ch 5, rep from * around, ending with sl st in same st as beg ch 5.
RND 3: Sl st in ch 5 loop, sc in same loop, ch 5, * sc in next loop, ch 5, rep from * around, ending with sl st in beg sc. Fasten off.

Saturate with full strength liquid starch and let dry thoroughly. Press on wrong side with steam iron. Shape and let set for 1 hour. Lace ribbon thru RND 1 and tie bow around candle to hold collar in place. Trim ends as desired.



NAPKIN RINGS

MATERIALS: Size 20 crochet cotton, steel crochet hook size 10, stiffening solution, 1/2 yard of 1/8" wide ribbon.

Ch 54, join with sl st to form ring.
RND 1: Ch 3, dc in ea ch. Sl st in top of beg ch 3. (54 sts)
RND 2: Ch 3, dc in ea st. Sl st in top of beg ch 3.
RND 3: Ch 4, sk 1 st, * dc in next st, ch 1, sk 1 st, rep from * around. Sl st in top of beg ch 3.
RND 4 and 5: Rep Rnd 2.
RND 6: Ch 5, sk 1 st, * sc in next st, ch 5, sk 1 st, rep from * around, ending with sl st in top of beg ch 5.
RND 7: Sl st in next 2 sts, ch 5, * sc in nex loop, ch 5, rep from * around, ending with sl st in 1st ch of beg ch 5. Fasten off.

Stiffen and shape placing crochet over appropriate object and let dry thoroughly. Lace ribbon through Rnd 3, tie bow and trim ends.

the pillow, candle collar and napkin holder were designed by margie wicker and were found in a crochet book called gift's and goodies. these are fairly simple patterns and work up rather quickly.....i have made these items numerous times for different occassions and they are always a big hit.



I know this next pattern isn't worked in thread, but it is one of my favorites! I love to have lots of pillows to decorate my furniture, and this is one of my favorites to make.

BOX STITCH PILLOW

MATERIALS: Worsted Weight yarn: Main color = 2 . 5 ounces. Color A = 2 . 5 ounces. Color B = 1 . 5 ounces. Crochet hook size J/10. 14 x 14 pillow form. GAUGE: 13 sts and 9 rows = 4".
SEQUENCE: 2 rows MC, 2 rows A, 2 rows MC, * 2 rows B, 2 rows MC, 2 rows A, 2 rows MC, repeat from * twice more.

FRONT: With MC, ch 47 loosely.
ROW 1: (right side): Dc in 4th ch from hk and in ea ch across: 45 sts.
ROW 2: Ch 2, (counts as 1st hdc, now and throughout), turn; dc in next dc, * work front post dc around post of next dc, dc in next dc; rep from * across to last st, hdc in last st; finish off: 45 sts.
ROW 3: With right side facing, join new color with sl st in first hdc; ch 2, work FPdc around post of next dc, ( dc in next FPdc, work FPdc around post of next dc) across to last hdc, hdc in last hdc.
ROW 4: Ch 2, turn; dc in next FPdc, (work FPdc, around post of next dc, dc in next FPdc) across to last hdc, hdc in last hdc; finish off.
ROWS 5 - 30: rep Rows 3 and 4, 13 times.
EDGING: With right side facing, join color A with sl st in first hdc; ch 1, (sc in ea st across to corner, 3 sc in corner, work 45 sc evenly spaced across to corner, 3 sc in corner) twice; join with sl st to first sc, finish off: 192 sc.
BACK: work same as front, do not finish off.
FINISHING: With color A, work reverse double crochet joining.
