My Memories of the Wonderful Trip to Nashville
My dreams came true this weekend back in 1997. I traveled to Nashville to attend the Dinner in the Round that benefited the Crisis Pregnancy Support Center of Nashville. It was held at Amy Grant's then house, Riverstone Farm.
I got a map to the farm in the mail and drove there for the event. It was easy to find and a beautiful place. Walking into the entrance of the farm, I could hardly believe I was there. I was parking my car and saw her son, Matt go by with some friends and still couldn't believe I was there. I met some friends from the internet there...Can and Reba and others and had a great time. The farm was gorgeous and I took pictures of it. The kids had a big trampoline in the front yard and the pool looked awesome. Reba took a picture of me in front of their house and we got to meet Amy before the event as she was walking to the tent. I told her I came all the way from Maryland...I was really nervous and didn't say much more. One note on the evening for how caring she is... one of the Amy fans there was cold and Amy went into her house to get her a jacket and another Amy fan got a cut of some sort and Lori McAlister (old FOA director) took her into Amy's house to fix her up! That was the first time I saw first hand Amy's kindness.
They had a silent auction and I bid on a poster autographed by Amy. She sang "Somewhere Down the Road" as well as some other songs. Musical guests were Gary Chapman, Amy Grant, Ashley Cleveland, Ruth McGinness, Mike Reid, Tom Schiltz, and Tom Schuyler.
After the singing, I got to get Amy and Gary to sign my program from the evening and all the internet Amy fan whom attended got to get their picture taken with Amy before she had to leave. I hated to leave the farm as it had been an awesome time that I will always remember.
I have since had the pleasure of meeting Amy Grant 6 more times and count each meeting as a blessing.
